We are happy to introduce the 20 recipients of the TPEN Small Grants 2026!
These locally led grassroots organisations across East Africa are using practical solutions to address the challenges communities face around menstrual health and period equality.
From empowering young people and strengthening menstrual health education, to advancing advocacy, generating evidence, strengthening health systems and creating more inclusive spaces for underserved communities, these projects reflect the different realities of the communities they serve while working towards menstrual justice for all.
Follow along as we spotlight the 20 grantees and the projects they are taking forward in their communities.

The Girls First Summit 2026 brought together partners, advocates, and changemakers united by a shared belief: that girls deserve communities that stand with them and opportunities to shape their own futures.
Together, over the last decade, this community has reached more than 200,000 girls.
To everyone who filled the room, and everyone who has helped build this journey along the way: thank you. This milestone belongs to you.
The Nation covered the Girls First Summit at 10. Read the full feature.

Weβre expanding our reach to 5,500 more adolescents aged 10 to 17 in #LaikipiaCounty, thanks to our incredible partnership with @DDINITIATIVE
Together, weβve trained 13 incredible teachers who will guide these young changemakers through our life skills curriculum, which was officially approved by the @KICDKenya earlier this year.
Students will develop social-emotional and leadership skills,so that they can become agents of change. It also encourages them to examine gender norms, actively address the biases that hold girls back, fostering a generation committed to building a more equitable future #RISEπ°πͺ
The 24-weeks sessions are rooted in storytelling, to help students explore complex topics, discover new ideas, and build critical skills. It teaches them about their rights, the importance of equity, and how to recognize and rely on allies in their lives.2/3 #wezeshandoto
