I rarely repost ads, but Senator @HawleyMO is saying something too important to ignore.
The tech companies ignoring engineering ethics must be held responsible for their results. Just like a structural engineer may be held responsible for knowingly engineering a bridge that was destined to collapse and cause mortal harm, companies like @openAI @Meta @Google @Microsoft etc cannot not exempt from the same engineering ethical standards.
They are 100% responsible for the outcome of their AI software.

ICE arrest Pasadena mother without warrant—turns out they abducted wrong person.
Only 2 of 3 agents had a badge—none were in uniform.
"I didn’t know if I was witnessing a hate crime or a kidnapping," said witness.
Video cuts off just as daughter begs, "Call the police."
"And because they might have been law enforcement, I wasn’t even sure whether to call the police."
Jillian Reed did end up calling 911—reporting what she thought was a possible kidnapping.
Rosalina Luna Vargas was eventually taken into custody despite her 2 children's best efforts.
After inflicting all of that trauma—ICE later admit they arrested the wrong person by mistake in the first place.
Told the family they had just been "in the wrong place at the wrong time."

20-year-old Adrian Andrew Martinez’s family says he was trying to stand up for someone being harassed by ICE agents in a Pico Rivera parkinglot. The footage shows at least six agents swarming him. He struggles, but doesn’t lay hands on them. He’s forced to the ground and shoved into a CBP vehicle.
His mom can’t find him. No records. No attorney.
This is an abuse of authority.
Keep recording. Don’t stop.

an obvious strawman. You can hate my movie– everybody's entitled to their opinion– and you know as well as I do that I made no such appeal. My appeal was for you to treat filmmakers like humans, even if you don’t like the movie they made.
Damn, this one hurts. David H.K. Bell was a wonderful talent, actor, improviser, and a kind soul. His performance in our film stands for itself of course, but I’ll cherish forever the time we had working together and cracking each other up between takes. A hui hou, friend ❤️❤️❤️

I’m seeing that this is irreversible. That the only way the country will get lands like this back is if the corps/countries/individuals who buy it, donate it back. Which will not happen.

‘ELIO’ is on track to earn Pixar’s worst opening weekend ever domestically with +$20M.
The film had an actual budget of $150M.
