North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa, now offers blood transfusions for Thalassemia patients in the Paediatric ward. Thalassemia is a hereditary blood disorder, and timely transfusions can make a world of difference. Our first patient marked this milestone by inaugurating the services. Kudos to Dr. Vandana Dhume and our dedicated team at NGDH for making this happen. A special spot in the Pediatric Ward is reserved for Thalassemia patients. The first phase of the Intensified #MissionIndradhanush 5.0 (IMI) campaign has commenced across the state with great enthusiasm. The #IMI5.0 campaign marks a significant stride towards eliminating Measles-Rubella from India. Work is underway for the “State Cancer Institute” in the Super Specialty Block which is in line with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s vision. By way of a tripartite agreement between the Govt. of India, Tata Memorial Hospital and Govt. of Goa, patients in the state will now have access to cutting-edge infrastructure and cancer treatment. This will eliminate the need to travel outside Goa for treatment. I thank Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare @mansukhmandviya ji for their continued support. Our focus has always been to serve the needs of our state and this effort is in line to achieve this objective. It is of no surprise that Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji is personally monitoring the progress of this project. Our efforts have always been collaborative and for this project as well, we are working closely with Dr. Kailash Sharma and Dr. Srikande from Tata Memorial Hospital.

Hon’ble Union Health Minister Shri @mansukhmandviya Ji highlighted the rising new Omicron sub-variant, protocols to be followed to ensure timely detection and management, in case of surge in cases.

Attending the high level virtual meeting chaired by Hon’ble Union Health Minister Shri @mansukhmandviya Ji on the consistent rise in Covid cases noted globally. Present for the meeting, Health Secretary Arun Kumar Mishra, Dean Dr. Bandekar and officials from DHS.

We will also take guidance of the Chief Minister to ensure directed protocols are stringently followed in Goa. It is my humble request to the people to take infection prevention measures. Let us unitedly step up once again and fight COVID-19. @mansukhmandviya @prudentgoa

A review meeting with all the doctors & health officials will be taken to ensure everything is in place to tackle the virus. As we are a tourist state, all measures to build our surveillance system as per the guidelines of @MoHFW_INDIA will be taken to ensure timely detection.
