#NayyiNavelli Movie Review ‘Yami Shines High In This Bizarre Mytho-Drama…’ Right since the silent era, loads of mythological films have been made featuring tales related to various gods and their devotees. We did witness some path-breaking films like Shirdi Ke Sai Baba or Jai Santoshi Maa, leading to the recent blockbuster hit Hanu-Man. In between, there have been fusion movies like Lok Parlok, Taqdeerwala, Yehi Hai Zindagi, Parmatma, OMG, and some more which managed to entertain their targeted audience. The latest to join this niche list is Nayyi Navelli, which has a unique connection with the world of the Ramayana. The story on paper looks interesting as well as ambitious. The fusion of the modern-day world with the mythological world is a different thought as it involves the Ramayana, Lord Rama, Ravana, and more. The arrival of Ravana in today’s era, the blessings of Lord Rama, and all that stuff is something unseen. But every different and unique idea needs good execution, and out here the execution is weak and lethargic. The connection factor fails to make its mark and lacks conviction. The movie takes a lot of time to establish the main plot; until then, it tries to work only on North Indian heartland humor, which fails to land in most places. The jokes or slang seem forced and lack a pan-India connect. The mythological angle looks fake and over-ambitious, heavily inspired by the world of the Avengers. The narrative parts are boring and dragging at times. The addition of humor in this part (Rakshasas as zombies dancing on the street) looks trashy and over the top. While the story and screenplay fail to make their mark, some action sequences featuring Yami Gautam are great. The special effects are superb and make a big impact on the film. #YamiGautam shines bright as a superstar in this film. Remove her, and there is a huge void. Yami solely carries the film on her strong shoulders and is exceptionally good in some action sequences. Besides her, all other actors are fine in their parts but fail to elevate their performances due to weak writing and sluggish humor. So, on an overall basis, ‘Nayyi Navelli’ has a unique storyline where Yami Gautam shines high in this bizarre mytho-drama. Besides her, it’s a drag fest full of some cringe moments and loud humor that fails to land. RJ #DivyaSolgama (1.5/5)

‘Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam’ Movie Review ‘A Frail Trail of an Important Issue…’ When it comes to the horrifying incident of the Mumbai terrorist attacks (26/11), we have witnessed several films such as Hotel Mumbai, The Attacks of 26/11, Major, and a few more, including a special sequence in the movie Dhurandhar. Every film displayed a different angle to these unfortunate events, and Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam adds to this niche list by portraying the story of the heroic lawyer who prosecuted the case. The trailer of the movie was appealing, so one expected it to be a powerful film. The movie is powerful, but only in parts, specifically during the courtroom arguments. Sadly, the forced family drama involving Ujjwal Nikam’s wife and son dilutes the flow of the film to such an extent that these scenes feel forced, unwanted, and dragging. Every time the movie tries to pick up the pace, the scenes featuring Wamiqa Gabbi slow it down to a boring level. When will filmmakers understand that when showcasing the journey of a real-life hero, there is no need to add forced family drama? If only these scenes had been kept to a minimum, the impact could have been much better. Furthermore, the film offers hardly anything new to know about this ace lawyer regarding the case itself. Additionally, the efforts shown by him to win the case felt minimal, as most of the narrative weight was carried by the character of Ajmal Kasab. While the movie is nicely shot, a crisper edit and a stronger screenplay would have made it a hard-hitting, content-driven film. It is wonderful to see #RajkummarRao returning to the kind of powerful roles he excelled at in his early days. He has played his part with total grace. The same goes for #SikandarKher, whose screen presence was very strong; however, I wish his character had been better established, as I really wanted to know his side of the story. #WamiqaGabbi looks charming, but her character is stretched to the limit and, coupled with a weak screenplay, acts as a major diluting point in the film. Ashish Vidyarthi and Jaideep Ahlawat were fine in their brief roles, while Naseer was wasted. Meanwhile, Lalit Prabhakar is absolutely menacing. On the whole, Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam is a frail trail of an important issue. It is worth watching only for the heroic legacy of the legendary lawyer and Rajkummar Rao's performance. RJ #DivyaSolgama (2.5/5) #Prahaar #PrahaarTheUntoldStoryOfUjjwalNikam #UjjwalNikam #Review

#Drishyam3 ‘Thrice the Tension, Triple the Thrills..’ What started as an official Hindi remake of a Malayalam film has evolved into an extraordinary franchise. From 2nd October memes to pav bhaji and satsang, the Salgaonkar family has won over audiences nationwide. After two massive hits, Drishyam 3 arrives with sky-high expectations and successfully delivers a thriller that fully satisfies fans. The Setup: Picking up after the events of Drishyam 2, Meera (Tabu) and Mahesh Deshmukh (Rajat Kapoor) remain relentless in their pursuit of justice for their son. They join forces with a sharp Crime Branch SP, played by Jaideep Ahlawat, and hire a top-tier lawyer, played by Prakash Raj, to finally put Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) and his family behind bars. The story takes its time to set up initially, but kicks into high gear with impactful introductions for Jaideep Ahlawat and Kamlesh Sawant (reprising his iconic role as Gaitonde). The interrogation sequences, the high-stakes face-off between Jaideep and Ajay, and the interval block are solid. While the pace dips slightly in places, the second half transforms into a high-speed thriller featuring an engaging courtroom drama. The final 30 minutes deliver an avalanche of twists and turns that give audiences exactly what they hoped for. The sub-track involving the judge is a bit weak, but easily negligible. Director Abhishek Pathak departs slightly from the original Malayalam narrative path to craft an independent, highly engaging version that lands effectively. #AjayDevgn is brilliant as always, anchoring the film effortlessly as Vijay Salgaonkar. #JaideepAhlawat delivers an outstanding performance, matching Ajay step-for-step. #Kamlesh Sawant and #PrakashRaj deliver strong, impactful performances. #ShriyaSaran, #Tabu, #RajatKapoor, and #IshitaDutta provide reliable, high-quality support. Drishyam 3 delivers thrice the tension and thrice the thrills, offering a thoroughly satisfying continuation of the saga. A must-watch for fans of the franchise.
