Why does LPGA continue to treat the players as an afterthought? The greens haven’t grown in? Can’t find a different course? The men would never put up with it - and the Tour wouldn’t put them in that position. Meanwhile, there are plenty of courses in the Midwest where hurricanes never are an issue.

I’m caddying for a friend this week and just adding some context on how much this is costing players: entry fee alone is $3500-4000 (depending on if you have to start at stage 1 or exempt to 2) hotel/airbnb, rental car, groceries, yardage books/advance practice rounds
BREAKING NEWS:
A very unfortunate situation at @LPGA 2nd stage in at Plantation Country Club in Venice Florida.
The stage (there is only one second stage site) was set to begin Tuesday and the entire field is in Florida. However it will not be played this week.
In an email sent to players they were told the course was unplayable from the rain from the Hurricane. The course wasn’t going to be able to mow until mid week and with more rain scheduled next week the decision was made to delay it for two weeks.
However there is important context. One of the two courses at the club redid all of their greens starting in June. And because of weather (over 50 inches of rain) there have been delays.
In fact the course is still not open to the members yet and the first rounds were to be played Sunday by the players in the Q-school field.
In an email sent to players last week the tour indicated there would be areas that were marked ground under repair.
“Areas not fully recovered will be marked ground under repair”
So the situation seemed less than ideal to start, tho a source did tell me the conditions had improved greatly over the last few weeks.
But they couldn’t recover from the latest rain and it left the Tour no choice.
With so many international players this leaves a real logistical nitemare for the players and at a huge financial burden.
Really unfortunate.

Their history of good decision making is poor, at best. There should always be a backup plan, end of story.

LPGA Q school is run horrifically every single year. There’s a disaster every single year without fail.

To add some more context to the LPGA Q-school cancellation.
Multiple players who are Euro Tour members skipped the event in Korea this week in order to get to the States. Skipping a $2 million purse, (part of the Aramco series events) by FAR the biggest purses of the year.
Others decided to play that LET event in Korea then caught a flight today that will get them to Florida tomorrow. Those players found out about the cancellation via email during their flight.
The new date is…..the same week as another Aramco Series event in Europe….missing another $2 million dollar purse event.
Multiple players reached out about Airbnb’s booked for a week that won’t be refunded, groceries bought, etc. This is before new flights or long drives.
For the international players obv the flight replacements will be even more.

So don’t schedule Florida in Hurricane Season. They’ve been lucky it hasn’t happened before.

You’re doing more good than you know Ryan. Thank you 🙏
A message from Madison Young, who you all raised around $6,000 so far. (Followed by a message to the haters from me)
I’m extremely thankful for the outpouring of people who have reached out and supported me through the most difficult time of my golf career. It’s incredible the amount of people who sent money and kind messages wishing me luck and encouragement to never give up. Because of these people I have a chance to keep going. I look forward to thanking these people again with a win on the LPGA tour someday.
To the haters who said “give up” or “get a job” from me:
First of all, thank you. Sadly when I try to raise money for female players I often well short of what I hope to raise. For every comment that she should quit it motivated multiple people to donate. So thank you.
I’ve raised significant money for maybe 50 to 60 players. In those other instances I got maybe one or two comments about them “getting a job”, but for Madison I got maybe a hundred. Guess what the only difference is? Correct, she is a woman.
And I’ll give you one guess who has the best resume of the players I’ve raised money for? That’s right, Madison Young.
I’ve never raised money for a player who has won on the KFT, never raised money for someone who has made it the PGA Tour (as a member).
I’ve raised money for players who never had a single start on any major tour, players who didn’t play college golf, and players who had at that point never got thru first stage of Q-school. And hardly a single comment.
Madison had won on the Epson, been a member of the LPGA and hopes to get back there again.
So to the haters, thank you for bringing awareness to the many hurdles female pros face. Finding financial backing to keep their dream alive being a big one.
I hope companies and people at clubs where female pros play are more aware of the hurdles facing them and offer to help.
And I hope Madison wins on the LPGA one day, because the screenshots I took of the replies to that tweet will be a string of #receipts like you have never seen before.
