Anyone who is even moderately well-informed must realise that the UK government has repeatedly acted illegally in its support for Israel, breaking International Humanitarian Law, breaching many treaties such as the Genocide Convention. Signing this petition is a small step towards justice. We need to change policy and some ministers need to stand trial for their crimes. OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Politicians and the media can openly make racist, Islamophobic and sexist comments, and Black and brown students are reportedly facing rising levels of racism. Yet criticism of Israel in the classroom is what’s being prioritised for punishment.
