Little Emmy's 1st shearing. She was such a trooper! I love to finish them off with a little lion tail. 😂 Then there's Sam. Let's just say, I'm now ready to take a nap after that showdown. His wool is amazing but clipping around his horns is always a fight, and he hates to have his belly touched, so that's fun. Thank goodness it's only twice a year, my back and shoulders couldn't take more than that. I'm in awe of the professionals who do that daily. You would never have to hit the gym!

How many of you think it's normal for a four-year-old boy to incorporate death in his play time imagination? Do you think that's healthy? The just turned 4-year-old here right now has so far imagined everyone burned up in a fire, then a car crash, and finally shot. I'm a no.

A 19 year old with no land and no money built a 40-cow dairy on somebody else's farm. 300 families were buying milk off that rented ground before he ever paid for an ad. Nathan Vergin got in by managing one of Joel Salatin's rental farms in Virginia: income off the beef herd, an apartment, access to equipment and a shop. He found customers before he had a parlor. He called everybody he knew, told them he was starting a raw milk herd share, and asked them to pass it on. No ads. A list. About 30 said yes. While the parts sat in transit he milked five cows by hand for five days straight, by himself. The parlor: old tie stall stanchions bolted to a hay wagon chassis, a vacuum pump hooked to a lawnmower engine, a box around the engine to keep the weather off. He pulled it into the field, fired it up, milked into a bucket, carried the milk to the cooler. It was ugly as a mud fence. It milked cows. There is a big difference between I don't have the ideal setup and I can't start. Those are two separate things. Word of mouth did the marketing. Somebody drank the milk, told a friend. He bought another cow, needed more ground, more people called, more cows. No five year plan. Demand pulled him forward one cow at a time. Virginia won't let raw milk sit on a store shelf, so the herd share is the road in. Customers own a slice of the herd and pay a boarding fee. The milk is theirs as owners. Nobody handed him a farm. He found the grass, then the customers, and the customers set his size. That is a business a middleman cannot shut off. Your rancher, Jason Hanley | 208-714-0478

Coffee has been ingested, yesterday's milk is skimmed, butter is made. Apple filling is ready for sourdough discard crepes for breakfast. Dishes are done, fruit is prepped, and the guest table is set. It's 6:15 a.m.. For those that keep asking, where have you been every morning? I'm still here. I'm still up super early, I just get a lot done before I go milking. So my early morning posts are more like 7:00 a.m. instead of 4:45 a.m.. I'm really, really ready for that time change to go back. 🌅

See you all early!
Pieces of Halley’s Comet are going to be falling from the sky tonight... The Orionid meteor shower peaks overnight, and the best time to look is from moonset (around 3 or 4 AM) until dawn. If you’re in the green, you’ve got the best shot at clear skies.

If enough patriots quote post this with @elonmusk's name perhaps he'll see it, repost it, and this will get the attention it deserves. Hundreds of millions of Americans need to know about this, not just us randos on X.
The past few days, I got my hands on thousands of new transcripts and hundreds of recordings, thanks to leads from @SKDoubleDub33 and @iamlisalogan . You've heard that the DSA is proposing structural reforms to America, including abolishing the Senate and imposing term limits. What you not have heard is - there is an operational plan to put it all into action. If the Democratic Party sweeps 2026, then DSA will become "foot soldiers" in constant clashes with the administration to cross a "red line" or invoke a "doomsday scenario" - meaning, President Trump invokes the Insurrection Act, probably sometime in 2027. Then, a lot of coordinated responses kick off, including delegitimizing the federal government itself and handing that legitimacy to Democratic governors. 2028 then becomes a vote on whether to keep America governance as-is or to burn it all down to appease a "young and brown" demographic. The mysterious group who's been coordinating 50501, Indivisible, and coordinating the NoKings protests is called "United Democracy Alliance" and their intellectual leader is Erica Chenoweth who came up with the 3.5% rule of nonviolent regime change. Patience. I know I've hyped this more than anything else. It's genuinely the biggest discovery I've had. This is an enormous archive. This is only the beginning.

Well now that the kerfuffle is calming down on my window tint warning, let's improve the timeline with a picture of our calf munching on hay when we finally made it home.

I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life. We just got pulled over, not because we were speeding or had a tail light out or even expired plates. But because our window tint seemed a little dark for the state of Iowa. So he gauged it and is giving us a written warning that we cannot travel through Iowa if our windows are this tinted. We bought this car brand new off the lot 6 years and 129,000 mi ago. These are stock windows. This guy is just an a****** looking for a reason to stop someone from out of state.

All of these innovations and we still can't tell the GPS that we're stopping for gas and snacks. No, we don't need to make a u-turn.

Warning, blood guts and gore. We are supposed to leave today for our annual family get together in Minnesota. Hubby is getting off an hour early so we can leave by 5:00 and drive a few hours tonight. I had 8 hours today after my chores were done to finish packing, make a giant gift pack for one of my customers to pick up while we were gone, bathe the dog, and get road snacks and the car clean and ready. At 12:30 the hubby popped in to have a bite of lunch and finish packing his bag. He says, I think we have a dead sheep. There's something white on the other side of the fence not moving. I'm thinking, really? Now of all days? So, sure enough, we get down there and there's a dead sheep. Our 2nd flock breeding ram. It appears he and the other ram were fighting through the fence, which is woven wire and barbed wire. The other ram must have hit him just right in the head that it split his head open and broke his neck. Through the fence!!! Remember, I'm supposed to be leaving on vacation. So we haul the ram back up with the side by side, my husband chains his feet to the bucket of the tractor and lifts him in the air. Then says sorry I can't stay and has to go to work. He felt terrible. By 2:30, the ram was skinned and quartered. I still have to go rinse off the meat and put it in my garage fridge to air dry and age while we are gone. But before that, I have to make some damn cinnamon rolls for the gift package for my customer! Oh, and my bag is still not packed. The dog is dirty. The car still needs cleaned. And the only thing I can do is laugh about the whole situation because it's so stupid. Have a great weekend. I may need extra wine tonight.
