The anime had this N+1 policy. Toriyama would know how far to take a gag or character quirk, but when Toei re-adapts the same joke, they pull a +1 on it & dig it fully into the ground. This inability to match Tori’s vision can make a difference between in-character vs OOC writing

I hear you, but just because Toriyama loved gags doesn’t automatically make every gag infallible or equal. It’s very noticeable when you compare the BoG version of the jokes, which he wrote, vs the anime’s version, which he didn’t. The difference in gag quality is night & day.

Both things happen because they're cool they do not exist for a narrative or characterization purpose for the most part.
There are too many instances of characters transforming in a blip and then transforming into the same form while powering up

But to suggest that there's an objectively correct way to transform into Super Saiyan is either idiotic or dishonest.
