The FG has begun a review of the 2019 National Security Strategy
The Federal Government has begun a review of the 2019 National Security Strategy to develop a new framework that addresses emerging threats, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, cybercrime, food insecurity and climate change.
The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, disclosed this on Thursday during the inauguration of a committee to review the existing strategy and formulate the National Security Strategy 2026.
Ribadu, represented by Major General Sarkin Bello (retd.), said Nigeria’s security environment had changed significantly since the last review in 2019, requiring a comprehensive reassessment of the country’s security priorities. “Our national security landscape is undergoing rapid and profound transformations. Since the last review of our strategy in 2019, the domestic, regional and global security environments have changed dramatically, with intensity,” he said.
Hope Uzodinma’s decision to chase a Senate seat while still sitting as governor of Imo, with more than a year left on his tenure, is one of the boldest political miscalculations of this cycle.
He still has until January 2028 as governor. The next Senate is expected to be inaugurated around June 2027. Instead of finishing his term, locking down Imo solidly for the APC and President Tinubu, maintaining smooth relations with sitting senators and the Presidency, and then positioning himself for a juicy appointment after 2028, he chose to open multiple fronts at once. That alternative path would almost certainly have paid him better and carried far less risk. Now he is fighting on every side at the same time.
On one front, he is expected to help wrestle a credible percentage ideally 25 percent or more from Peter Obi’s strong Southeast base in favour of President Tinubu in Imo. That alone is not a light assignment.
On another front is Rochas Okorocha, who sees this as his chance to return to the Senate from Imo West. The primary already produced conflicting claims, and just today a Federal High Court in Abuja nullified Uzodinma’s emergence as the APC candidate, ordered him to stop parading himself as such, and directed that Okorocha’s name be recognised instead. Whether that ruling stands or is overturned on appeal, the ticket is now firmly in the courts and the political mud.
Then there is Godswill Akpabio. Uzodinma has been quietly positioned in some circles as a possible successor or rival for the Senate Presidency in the next Assembly. That alone makes Akpabio a natural adversary. If Hope loses the Senate battle outright, the same Senate that would have to clear him for any ministerial appointment later could simply refuse to do so. He could find himself politically stranded.
At the root of much of the hostility sits Nyesom Wike and his coalition. They see Hope as one of the figures who gave Siminalayi Fubara the confidence to push back in Rivers. For Wike, that is personal. Anyone who has watched him knows he does not do half measures. He will go the extra mile legally, politically, and through every available network to frustrate those he considers rivals or obstacles. He is a political operator who treats enemies with sustained pressure rather than temporary disagreement. To top it up his influence in the judiciary is very massive.
From the state to the Senate ticket, from the Senate ticket to Aso Rock calculations, and from Aso Rock back to the ministerial clearance process, the interests lined up against this move are many. Unless whoever is rooting for him in the Villa has direct, consistent access to the President’s ear, this will be one of the most difficult battles he has fought. He is in for a long ride.
Fingers crossed. We are all watching. x.com/Morris_Monye/s…
FBI offers 7million Naira reward for Nigerian fra¥dster who disappeared at Atlanta airport before she was to start her 8-year sentence
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Emuobosan Emmanuella Hall, a 46-year-old Nigerian citizen and U.S. permanent resident accused of fleeing before beginning an eight-year prison sentence.
Hall, who was convicted for her role in a romance-fraud scheme, was sentenced to 96 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Jane Milazzo in January 2026 and ordered to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons by March 25.
However, she failed to report as directed. Investigators said GPS data from her monitoring device showed her last known location was Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on March 24, 2026, where the device stopped transmitting.
Hall had reportedly informed her probation officer that she was scheduled to fly to Minnesota, where she was to serve her sentence, but airline records showed she never boarded the flight.
A federal grand jury subsequently indicted her on October 23, 2026, for failing to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons, and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.
Hall had earlier pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud mostly older women through romance scams. Court documents said members of the syndicate posed online as generals, philanthropists and entrepreneurs, built romantic relationships with victims and later persuaded them to send money under false pretences.
Hall and her co-defendant, Kenneth Akpieyi, allegedly used Le Beau Monde LLC to process victims’ funds. Hall admitted responsibility for $851,207 in losses, while Akpieyi was held responsible for more than $3.5 million and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
If convicted of the new charge, Hall could receive up to 10 additional years behind bars, consecutive to her existing sentence.

PRESIDENT TINUBU INDUCTS FIVE NEW HELICOPTERS TO BOOST NAF OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, 29 October 2026, inducted five new helicopters into the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), comprising three Leonardo AW-109 Trekker B helicopters and two Airbus H-125 helicopters, marking another milestone in the Federal Government’s drive to modernise Nigeria’s airpower capabilities and strengthen national security.
The induction underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing the operational capacity of the NAF to respond effectively to evolving security threats. The additional platforms will expand the Service’s rotary-wing fleet, improve asset availability and provide greater flexibility in supporting military operations across the country.
The three AW-109 Trekker B helicopters will strengthen the NAF’s capabilities in Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), close air support, armed escort, combat search and rescue, and other joint operations in support of ground forces. Meanwhile, the two H-125 helicopters will provide versatile light-helicopter support for surveillance, tactical mobility and other operational requirements. Collectively, the platforms will enhance situational awareness, improve responsiveness and strengthen air support to troops operating across multiple theatres.
Beyond expanding the fleet, the induction highlights the importance of sustained investment in maintenance, logistics, technical expertise and personnel training to maximise the operational value of modern aircraft. The NAF remains focused on translating these investments into improved mission effectiveness, greater operational readiness and more responsive support to joint military operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats.
The ceremony was attended by the National Security Adviser, the Chief of Defence Staff, other Service Chiefs, ministers, members of the National Assembly and other senior government and military officials, underscoring the strategic importance of the induction to Nigeria’s national security and the ongoing modernisation of the Armed Forces.
The induction of the five helicopters represents a further step towards building a more capable, responsive and technologically advanced Nigerian Air Force. The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has consistently emphasised the importance of translating investments in modern platforms into enhanced operational effectiveness through mission-focused training, effective maintenance and the professional development of personnel. Through the effective deployment of these platforms, the NAF will strengthen its contribution to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and supporting ongoing operations to restore peace and security nationwide.

Court Orders Uzodinma to Stop Parading Himself as APC Candidate, Recognizes Former Governor Rochas Okorocha for Imo West Senatorial District
Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma to immediately stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Delivering judgment, the court held that Uzodinma did not win the May 18, 2026 APC primary election, which was conducted by the party and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The judge said that evidence before the court showed that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast and should be declared the winner.
The judge subsequently ordered the APC to forward Okorocha’s name as its candidate for the 2027 general elections in the Imo West Senatorial District.
Beyond AFRIDEX 2026…
Romania’s defence industry plans to establish a military equipment manufacturing facility in Nigeria, following discussions with Nigeria’s Minister of Defence and military leadership at AFRIDEX 2026. The proposed investment is expected to deepen bilateral defence cooperation, strengthen local manufacturing and improve access to military equipment.
The exhibition also highlights Nigeria’s growing indigenous defence production, with DICON D7G expanding its output of arms, ammunition and other military equipment. Alongside advances in maritime surveillance technology, these initiatives aim to strengthen national security, reduce reliance on imported defence equipment and create opportunities to supply wider African markets. x.com/Dolusegun16/st…

🚨José Mourinho on Cristiano Ronaldo winning the B.O.A.T. (Ballon d’Or of All Time) ahead of Lionel Messi:
“If you want to understand why Cristiano Ronaldo deserves this award, go back to 2008. People talk about his legacy today, but I want them to remember the monster he was at 23 years old.
That version of Cristiano was terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. He had the speed, power, dribbling, headers, free kicks and the mentality of a man who believed nobody could stop him.
Defenders were scared before the game even started. You could have the perfect defensive plan, and he would still destroy you.
In 2008, he scored 42 goals, won the Premier League and Champions League with Manchester United, and won the Ballon d’Or. At that age, he was already playing like a man who wanted to conquer football itself.
This is the player Real Madrid broke the bank to sign. They knew they weren’t buying an ordinary superstar. They were buying a man who could change their history, and he did exactly that.
When people compare him with Messi, I respect Messi. He is extraordinary, but we must remember the Barcelona team around him. Xavi and Iniesta controlled games, dictated the tempo and made that team almost impossible to stop. Sometimes, Messi gets all the credit for a dominance built by an incredible generation of footballers.
Cristiano, meanwhile, proved himself in different systems, with different teammates and in different leagues. He adapted, reinvented himself and kept scoring when people thought his best days were behind him. That is what makes his career so frightening.
And I will say something controversial: I don’t believe every Ballon d’Or Messi won was deserved. There were years when Cristiano had a stronger case, but people were so fascinated by Messi that they refused to see it.
For me, 2008 was the beginning of something extraordinary. Cristiano wasn’t just winning matches; he was announcing himself as a player capable of dominating an entire era.
If the B.O.A.T. award is about greatness, dominance, mentality and changing football history, then Cristiano Ronaldo has every reason to stand above everybody else.”
