The estimated League Two wage bills for 2026/27 make for VERY interesting reading. 👀 Salford City are way out in front on an estimated £6.85m a year, with Port Vale and Rotherham next. At the other end, York City and Barnet are operating on just over £2m.

The player wage bills of League One clubs for the 2026/27 season. 💰⚽ Leicester City are reportedly spending a staggering £35 MILLION a year on player wages, almost FOUR TIMES as much as the next highest spenders, Luton Town (£9.6m). At the other end of the scale, Bromley are estimated to spend just £2.88m annually. The financial gap between clubs in the same division is absolutely enormous. 🤯

Bianchini with another screamer over in France!
71e. Bianchini égalise pour Clermont. 1-1. Nantes menait et trouve encore le moyen de se faire rejoindre… 😡 Le plus inquiétant, c'est que ça ne me surprend même plus. 🎙️ Ma réaction en direct. #FCNantes #FCNCF63

Totally bogus rubbish reported today. It seems the WRU dunces - as out of touch as ever - started talking about joining the Premiership in England. There is absolutely no way. Keen readers will also recall that WRU turned invitations into an Anglo-Welsh League in 1996 - leaving them with a succession of half-baked events ever since

Marcelo Bielsa on modern football: “I am sure that football is in a process of decline. “It is becoming less and less attractive because what made it the best game in the world is not there anymore. “If you let a lot of people watch football, but you don't protect the pleasure of what they watch, that favours business, because the business is that a lot of people watch football. “For me, the introduction of technology like VAR does a lot of harm to football. “This sport has a particularity: when it becomes completely predictable, it loses its appeal. “As time passes, as fewer and fewer footballers are worth watching and as the game produced is less and less enjoyable, this artificial increase in the number of spectators will be interrupted.” Good to see people like him calling it out 👏

Marshall of the WRU blames everyone bar he and his Union for shortfall. blames the clubs who have battled on in the face of WRU indifference. The CEO must leave, so too Marshall if he lacks the stomach for the fight

And they want to take professional rugby away from this ground. From this setting. A part of our city’s identity, history and sporting soul. You couldn’t design a more special setting for rugby if you tried. Protect the Ospreys. Protect St Helen’s. Protect Swansea rugby. 🖤🤍

Ben Davies still has so much to offer the game on the field and off. When he eventually retires, Davies' experience and intelligence would be worth tapping into in the Spurs boardroom. Column #THFC henrywinterfootball.substack…

Yes indeed. something very familiar about the face appointed to an important committee. Yet another person with no pro rugby background - it is very difficult not to conclude that the Wru is either terrified of outsiders or is taking the piss
