| The Hidden Costs of Crypto: Why Every Transaction Has a Price Tag 💸 |
Imagine you're buying a candy bar that costs $1.00. When you get to the checkout, you see there's a sales tax of 7 cents. This extra cost is similar to transaction fees in crypto. In crypto: When you want to buy or send cryptocurrency, you need to pay a small fee to the network, just like you pay tax to the government when buying a candy bar.
Just as you can't avoid sales tax when buying candy, you can't avoid transaction fees when using crypto networks.
Now you go to the store to buy that same candy bar, but when you get there, you see the price has changed to $1.05. Prices can change quickly. Auto slippage is like deciding ahead of time how much of a price increase you're willing to accept.
- You might set your "auto slippage" to 5%, meaning you're okay if the price goes up to $1.05
- If the price jumps to $1.10, your purchase wouldn't go through because it's beyond your limit
Auto slippage protects you from sudden price shifts during crypto transactions. It lets you set a maximum price tolerance, ensuring you don't accidentally pay more than you're comfortable with when trading tokens.
