Nigerian parents will give their child ₦3,000 for an entire semester and still expect them to graduate with a first class. Some will even give ₦5,000 and expect miracles. Meanwhile, the same parents want to brag to their friends about their child's results, compare them with other students, and ask why they couldn't do better. Some students are struggling to feed themselves in school. Others are spending money to sort their grades. Even getting good grades takes more than reading your books. Before you compare your child with another person's child, ask yourself what you actually did to help yours succeed. You cannot starve a child of support, demand flying colours, then use their results to shame them.
