Having a tough Monday? Cricket is here to cheer you up! 😸
Cricket is such a character, and he makes our team laugh every single day! From the moment we met him (he was rescued from a home with 91 other cats), we knew he was something special. And he really is special in more ways than one!
You probably notice Cricket’s unique front legs. He's diagnosed with carpal laxity, a condition that affects the stability of his wrist joints. It doesn't slow him down, though, and you can often find him zooming, jumping, and playing with other cats (especially Neo, his best friend!).
If you've been following us and Cricket's journey, thank you for helping us provide the medical care and support he needs to be the loveable goofball he is today! Together, we can save even more cats' lives. Join us at alleycat.org/SignUp.
50 years ago today The Mothership landed. It was a day the earth couldn’t stand still. If you heard any noise, it was just George and the boys, gettin’ down.
50 years later that Mothership is one of the most popular attractions in @NMAAHC.
Well done Star Child.

There’s a reason the great dystopian novels envision a world without literacy. Those books warned about the very age we’re now living in. Those who abandon reading & writing are surrendering their powers of thinking. What’s shocking is that so many would surrender so readily.

October 26th 1969 - 32-year-old Waylon Jennings marries his fourth wife, 26-year-old Jessi Colter. They would remain married until his death on February 13th, 2002. Jennings also placed three songs on the Billboard Top 40, including the #23 hit, "Theme From The Dukes Of Hazzard" in 1980. Colter reached the same chart in 1975 with the #4 hit, "I'm Not Lisa".
Jennings gave his seat to J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson, who was sick with the flu and struggling with the cramped, freezing conditions on the tour bus during the 1959 Winter Dance Party tour.
The final exchange: Before takeoff on February 3, 1959, Buddy Holly joked to Jennings, "I hope your old bus freezes up again," to which Jennings replied, "Well, I hope your old plane crashes". Jennings carried survivor's guilt over that remark for the rest of his life.

Elizabeth Holmes doesn’t know how to spell ‘banana’ or ‘broccoli’ in English?
(She creatively comes up with ‘bannanna’ and ‘brocolli’)
Maybe she shouldn’t have dropped out of Stanford; Stanford has a highly regarded ‘English spelling’ department.

This is what putting South Carolina first looks like.
I’m honored to have the support of two former governors — Republican David Beasley and Democrat Jim Hodges.
We may not agree on everything, but we share a belief that matters most: South Carolina deserves leaders who will always put its people first.
