The bad news: Citrus greening has devastated U.S. citrus growers over the past 20+ years, resulting in a 95% decline of Florida citrus production since the early 2000s.
The great news: A new chapter has arrived for U.S. citrus following EPA’s recent approval of exciting new advancements I witnessed firsthand this past weekend at Soilcea Citrus Field in Seffner, Florida.
Thank you to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin @epaleezeldin for visiting our test grove, and the Trump Administration @POTUS for approving the Soilcea rootstocks that are the tools that Florida citrus growers need to protect against citrus greening.

Thank you, @SecRollins, for your leadership. Together, we have held Mexico accountable for the water owed to South Texas farmers.
While this is a step in the right direction, we will continue to keep up the pressure to secure deliveries on Mexico’s outstanding water debt.
Today marks the end of the 2026 water-cycle year under President Trump’s leadership, strengthened engagement on the 1944 U.S. Mexico Water Treaty, and working with President Sheinbaum, Mexico met its commitment to deliver at least 350,000 acre-feet of water this year.
Building upon last year’s delivery of more water in one year than during the entirety of the Biden administration, this means for the first time since the first Trump administration that this milestone has been met two years in a row!
But the work is NOT done. Continued, reliable water deliveries and repayment of outstanding water debt remain critical for South Texas farmers and ranchers who depend on this water to sustain their operations and feed our nation.
Thank you to @SecRubio and his team for their strong partnership. Despite the immense challenge of limited resources and complex negotiations, together we are delivering for American agriculture and safeguarding the water our producers need!

What does farmworker housing look like? 🏡🌱
For growers, H-2A employee housing is about more than providing a place to stay. These facilities must meet state requirements and be inspected before employees move in, helping ensure workers have a safe, comfortable place to call home during the season.
Take a look inside one of the facilities and see how Empire Farm Labor Contractor supports its employees beyond the field.

**BUDDY’S LAST DAY AT THE BEACH**
For almost fourteen years, Buddy had been the constant heart of the Miller family. The big Labrador with the dark coat and endless energy had marked every season of their lives, but nowhere more clearly than at the ocean.
When he was young, the beach was pure chaos in the best way. The car would barely stop before he launched himself toward the waves, shoes and towels still flying. He would swim until his legs trembled, ignoring every call to come in, as if the sea itself belonged only to him.
Time, of course, does not negotiate.
The wild sprints softened into careful walks. Gray crept across his muzzle. The dog who once vanished into the deeper water for hours eventually preferred to stand where the foam just kissed his paws, watching the horizon with quiet patience.
Then the vet’s voice delivered the truth they had been dreading. Buddy was old and very sick. There was no exact number of days left—only the understanding that the calendar had become far shorter than anyone wanted. From that moment, the family’s only goal was to make whatever time remained as gentle as possible.
One afternoon Emma spoke the idea that had been sitting unspoken in all of them.
“Let’s take him to the beach.”
So they did.
They brought no balls, no frisbees, nothing that demanded more of him than he could give. They simply walked slowly down to the water’s edge and let Buddy decide.
He stood for a long time, staring out at the gray-blue expanse. Behind him his people waited in silence. At last he turned and looked straight at them. Emma’s eyes filled.
“We’re right here,” she whispered.
Buddy held their gaze a moment longer, then turned back to the sea. His steps were careful on the shifting wet sand. When the first small wave reached his legs he paused, then moved forward until the water touched his chest. He stood there, breathing the salt air the way he had since he was a puppy.
And then, softly, he began to swim.
It was nothing like the powerful strokes of his youth—just a few slow, deliberate movements through the shallows, gray muzzle held above the surface. No one called him back. The family simply walked alongside him on the shore.
After a short time he slowed, turned his head once more toward them. His mother wiped her face.
“Good boy, Buddy. We love you.”
He stayed a little longer, then made his way carefully back to the sand. They wrapped him in towels and sat together as the evening cooled. Buddy rested between them while they told the old stories—wet towels in the car, sandy paws on every seat, the many times he had refused to leave long after everyone else was ready to go home.
They knew one final afternoon could not change what was coming.
But that had never been the point.
For one last stretch of daylight, Buddy breathed the ocean air he had always loved, felt the water move around him, and looked back to find the same faces still waiting.
Sometimes that is all love can offer, and it is enough.

Remarkably hot and dry in Texas and parts of the south. Dallas/Ft Worth has had 13 days at or above 100° which smashes the old record. It’s also been very dry, they’ve had 61 days straight without measurable precipitation, which puts them at the third longest stretch on record. Records in Dallas/Ft Worth go back to 1898.
They’ve got at least 3 more days near 100° in the immediate future.

I reread this every year.
I cry like a baby every year.
Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero.
Todd: Hello… Operator… listen to me. I can’t speak very loud. This is an emergency. I’m a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.
Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?
Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives — razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.
Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.
Lisa: Are you okay?
Todd: We’re going down… wait. No. We’re leveling off. We changed directions. We’re flying east again.
Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. It’s very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. I’m afraid your plane may be part of their plan.
Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me you’ll call.
Lisa: I promise.
Todd: Our home number is… You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. We’ve been married ten years. She’s pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. I’ll always love her. We have two boys — David, he’s 3, and Andrew, he’s 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still don’t know if it’s a girl or a boy.
Lisa: I’ll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)
Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.
Todd: I understand. I’ll be back.
Todd: Everyone knows this isn’t a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.
Lisa: What are you going to do?
Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. We’ll take them out.
Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lord’s Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Let’s Roll.
