Bringing up what happened at the 2016 Barcelona is actually the perfect example of why Lewis Hamilton has every right to speak about teamwork. He knows exactly how bad things can get when a teammate works against you. In that incident, Lewis Hamilton did nothing wrong. He capitalised on a massive mistake made by Nico Rosberg, who had selected the wrong engine mode and lost significant speed down the straight. And when Lewis Hamilton rightfully and safely went for the wide-open gap, Nico Rosberg blocked aggressively and forced him completely off the track and onto the grass, destroying what could have been a guaranteed double podium finish for the team. And there’s another massive difference: in this incident, these two elite teammates were rivals fighting for a world title. But what exactly was Charles Leclerc fighting for when he repeatedly tried to push Lewis Hamilton off the track? Lewis Hamilton’s point was that if you’re fighting for a championship, that kind of rivalry makes sense. But when you’re not, you should be working as a team and securing the maximum number of points possible. And considering Charles Leclerc’s age and how far along he is in his career, you’d expect he has the maturity to understand that. So, how hard can it be to understand what Lewis Hamilton said? Or does it simply not fit your narrative and agenda?
