Superb start!
16pt Barry 💥

Transfer: Hall ➡️ Gabriel
Going aggressive with the five at the back this week and leaning heavily into the Arsenal defence with Raya, Calafiori and Gabriel all starting.
Haaland gets the armband again, with Gabriel as vice.
Feels like one of those weeks where a clean sheet swing could make a huge difference.
Good luck everyone! 🤞

Another example of why the PL rules are not fit for purpose.
They do not reward, in any way, sporting achievement. If you're a super brand, you can do whatever you want without any reprecussion.
If you want to get there, those rules stop you.

Aston Villa held an important working meeting today to plan the club's future and lay the foundations for its long-term sporting and institutional project.
The meeting brought together Nassef Sawiris, the club's Chairman and Unai Emery alongside President of Football Operations Roberto Olabe and Director of Football Operations Damián Vidagany.
The discussions focused on jointly planning the club's long-term strategic direction, with positive discussions establishing a clear commitment beyond 2029 for the joint development of the club under the sporting leadership of Unai Emery based on the shared ambitions and common goal to reach excellency and keep growing during the next years.
The objective is clear: to build an ambitious, competitive Aston Villa capable of taking on the biggest challenges and achievements.
Love this, or even simply you can't have the same captain in back to back weeks would be a good change.
Along with actually being able to sub in your bench mid GW, a bit like UCL Fantasy.
2 positive changes I'd like to see in @OfficialFPL
Work has become too transactional. Way less work perks, constant demands without reward in the name of cost-cutting/ higher profit margin, whilst also being aware the higher-ups have no loyalty to you.
No surprise people are giving the same energy back.

Employees work hard and hit big milestones for firms. Every year they help employers make more profit than previous years. Their rewarded is pizza and drinks in the kitchen area for 30-60 minutes then back to their desks. If you’re lucky to get a bonus then HMRC comes knocking

Tonight feels like one of those nights for Nicholas Jackson.
Just hasn't looked at it - good movement but absolutely no killer instinct.
Have to bundle that in. #avfc
Can't get out.
No out all - poor start to the 2nd half this.
Unlucky with the deflection but that's football. We need to be smarter here.
Despite the wobbly start, a solid enough first half.
Always going to be a nervy start but we've grown into the game and shown some positive signs.
Like to see us be braver in the final third - space there and chances to be had.
Need more out wide. #avfc

I often think that because Unai Emery is one of the world’s best coaches, we are blase about how incredible his work can be. #avfc made a profit in the summer and lost more than half of their UEL final team, and yet they already look a side capable of competing with the top teams

This has been filmed and colour graded in such a way I'm half expecting Stephen Graham to pop up playing a jaded cop who can't get over that one criminal who slipped through his fingers.
Unbelievable that we're here - matchday away at Barcelona.
BARCELONA.
Up the Villa! #avfc
GW9 wrapped up ✅
74 points against a 42 average and a nice green arrow!

Van Hecke with the monster 15-pointer was the standout, while Rogers, Rudoni, Barry and Jackson all returned too.
Haaland (C) only getting 4 was the obvious frustration, but enough went right elsewhere to make it a really strong week overall.
Very happy with the progress, now need to keep it moving.
Gabriel soon? 👀

GW9 so far… 👀
59 points with 2 still to play.
Van Hecke the hero with 15, while Silva, Rogers, Rudoni and Jackson have all chipped in nicely too.
Haaalnd blank - it does happen.
Cherki is a big concern now.
Hoping for Calafiori CS and a Barry goal.

Strange game that.
First half was okay, good enough, felt normal.
2nd half - not sure what to say. Nothing like watching Villa normally.
An eye on Tuesday? Fulham just better? Tactically outdone? Tired legs?
Didn't deserve the draw - but take it.
Onto Barcelona!
Weird first half.
Probably should be more ahead with the McGinn penalty, but haven't created a lot and look susceptible on the break.
Fulham probably should have 1.
Atmosphere feels like a flat FA cup tie.
Strange game. #avfc
