CDL-Toronto Matter graduate SoMax BioEnergy created a technology platform that treats waste using a hydrothermal carbonization process, which can eliminate harmful pharmaceuticals, plastics, and toxins from organic waste. #CDLSuperSession2023 creativedestructionlab.com/c…
Just completed the commissioning of the First commercial scale Hydrothermal Carbonization plant in North America. By completing a day ahead of schedule, we were able to do an additional test run, produced over 500kg of hydrochar from 3,000 gallons of sewage sludge.
Final stages of construction on the first commercial scale Hydrothermal Carbonization Plant in the US. Can't wait to start commissioning the system next month and start converting biosolids and food waste into hydrochar for energy production and CDR.

Hydrothermal Carbonization of DSG (Distiller’s Spent Grains) makes a near perfect solid fuel. The resulting hydrochar has a higher energy density than Anthracite @ 35MJ/kg and <1% ash content with net zero carbon emissions. Let’s decarbonize Alcohol! Somaxhtc.com
Honored to be selected as a grand prize winner against all these promising technologies. Let's continue to innovate in water resource recovery.
