For years, I told myself I was more than my title. Most leaders do. We say things like:
"I don't need the position."
"My identity isn't tied to my work."
"I could walk away tomorrow."
Then life tests the theory. 1/ 🧵 books.manuscripts.com/produc…

Illinois State LB Tye Niekamp's 41.5 tackles for loss moves him past Boomer Grigsby (2001-04) for 5th of the Redbird career list. Grigsby had 41 TFLs.
Niekamp is 25 tackles away from tying Ryan Szokola (1997-2000) at No. 5 on the Redbird career tackles leaderboard.
I’ve run this trail hundreds of times.
Today: TRAIL CLOSED. KEEP OUT.
So I changed the route.
Leadership works that way, too.
A closed trail isn’t the same thing as a closed future.
The route can change without changing who you are.
Lead on the Edge.
“I’m just not a math person.”
We say it all the time.
Dr. Nicole Pierce made a great point on The Education Equation: We’d never be as comfortable saying, “I’m just not a reading person.”
Why have we accepted the idea that some people simply can’t do math?
The future is loading! It was a great day to see a @RedbirdFB win and and for some of guys from the ‘27 class to get together.
