Most VCs evaluate technology through metrics. Peter Thiel evaluates it through political theology.

Here is why Silicon Valley’s leading contrarian is framing physical stagnation as an eschatological crisis: danielforresternash.substack…

Orwell's great observation in "Nineteen Eighty-Four" was that to shrink a person's vocabulary is to shrink his capacity to think.
An impoverished version of English removes the mental tools needed to formulate and communicate complex (and dissenting) ideas. Such is the deep, complex relationship between language and thought.
We don't read "difficult books" to say that we've read difficult books. We read them because they expand the boundaries of what we are capable of thinking and feeling — we ascend to their level. Vocabulary helps us to recognize truths otherwise beyond our grasp.
This revelation is worse than you may think. This must be reversed.
I am speechless. Thomas Aquinas College just dropped a study on the rigor of the new SAT.
It compares the 1980/87 test with 2026. The findings should terrify every parent and teacher...
Vocabulary has collapsed.
Old SAT: 70.6% of questions tested vocab.
New SAT: 15%.
The old test forced students to know a wide range of words through analogies, antonyms, and sentence completions. The new test abandoned that. Most vocab questions now just ask students to fill in one blank from context.
Reading passages also got radically shorter (average ~97 words vs 300–340).
The new test uses short expository passages and hands you the necessary background knowledge inside the text. The older tests leaned much more heavily on argumentative and persuasive writing, assumed far more historical, scientific, and cultural knowledge, and penalized students who lacked it.
This is a redefinition of what "college readiness" means.
If you believe that kids should develop rigorous vocabulary, be capable of sustained reading, and possess background knowledge, I have bad news for you. The SAT no longer measures these.
If you want a future where children can actually read difficult texts and construct complex arguments, the SAT must be replaced now.
This cannot go on.

100%. They can't see you scrolling TT at the same time that you're expecting them to read a paperback book. Modeling behavior is underrated.
The most dangerous force in the 21st century isn't a mad scientist—it's a global safety committee promising to protect us from our own technological progress.
Thiel’s lectures weren't about end-times doomerism; they were an aggressive filter for 3 or 4 builders willing to build in the world of atoms.
Deep dives into Girardian mimesis, Schmitt’s Katechon, and Straussian exit strategies from each night are linked throughout the piece.

Modern EdTech doesn't build human agency. It automates it.
Compressing human learning into terminal apps and behavioral telemetry trades intrinsic motivation for metric speed-running. When you port these gamified wrappers continuously from kindergarten through higher ed, you aren't training autonomous thinkers. You're conditioning a population to mistake frictionless surveillance coupled with dopamine hits for personal progress.
The core warning of the Nashville lectures applies directly to SaaS architecture here. The most complete form of control never arrives as overt coercion. It arrives offering efficiency, ease, peace and safety and an algorithm to manage the friction of being human.

The prospect of a kid starting in front of an Alpha AI terminal at age 5 and not exiting the HAA screen wrapper until 21 should give any serious educator pause.
Replacing human relational formation and deep intellectual friction with metric speed-running and dopamine optimization isn't redesigning college. It's institutionalizing hyper-monitored telemetry across an entire upbringing.
Escapism - whether to Mars, New Zealand, or floating ocean settlements - is an illusion. You cannot run away from centralized regulatory capture OR sensationalized mainstream media headlines that are completely detached from reality.
Peter Thiel wrapped up his Antichrist Nashville series with an eschatological pep talk for a stagnant empire by tracing the transfer of authority from Ancient Rome to Pax Americana, by Beijing and Moscow fail the three-pillar test of world empire, and the battle against global administrative capture.

Universal payouts from AI monopolies is the ultimate counterfeit peace: material security purchased through total reliance on centralized infrastructure.
2 years from now you will not work you and will not worry about money
you will get your cash payments from from all the major AI labs
think of it like 3-5 companies giving you a thousand dollar check every week
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
No major AI labs have announced or committed to universal $1000 weekly cash payments or an end to work/money concerns by 2028. Discussions involve speculative proposals and limited small-scale pilots, not firm company plans.

Exactly right. Anti as in counterfeit, not just opposition. This is the core tension Thiel is pressing in Nashville. Whether tech acts as a katechon holding back chaos or becomes the the very substitute religion that that displaces human agency entirely.
“Antichrist” doesn’t just mean against Christ. It means in place of Christ.
Silicon Valley promises AI will give us wisdom, heal our bodies, end scarcity, watch over us, and grant eternal life. Sound familiar?

Running a Nietzsche handle only to indulge in pure moralizing resentment and universal outrage is a fascinating choice. If you want to actually parse what was said during the lectures specifically on how the antichrist operates, I broke down night 3 here: danielforresternash.substack…
Night 3 of Peter Thiel's Nashville lectures drops the macro-theology and turns to pure physics: velocity.
How does one individual achieve total global consolidation in a single lifespan?
The answer isn't a 33-year-old Alexander riding a horse. It's an automated, turn-key grid.
Thiel fixates on the "33-year biological ceiling" (Christ, Alexander, Caesar weeping) to perform a classic sleight of hand.
The point isn't numerology. It's a bottleneck.
Human biology runs out of time. To achieve global scale in late modernity, power must shift from aging leaders to frictionless financial and regulatory software.
From Benedict XVI's esoteric error to FATCA, SWIFT, the ICC, and Solomonic statecraft... The complete breakdown of night 3 is live.

At his third Antichrist lecture in Nashville, Peter Thiel talks about the International Criminal Court (ICC), Israel, the United States, and the Iran War.
He describes the ICC as part of the emerging ideological architecture of the Antichrist, likening language on the ICC's website to the antichristic talk of peace and safety in 1 Thessalonians.
Thiel notes that the ICC's arrest warrants for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant have limited where they can travel. The ICC warrant meant Netanyahu couldn't visit Poland on the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp; though Poland's president said he wouldn't enforce it, Poland's authority to defy the ICC wasn't clear, and so the Israeli PM didn't come.
While condemning what he describes as the neoconservatives and George W. Bush people—we "made a lot of mistakes in the Middle East wars," and "you're not supposed to torture people"—Thiel says the ICC was already emerging as an issue under that administration, citing a 2003 memo from Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on what he called the judicialization of international politics.
The investor interprets former VP Dick Cheney's condemnation of Trump as an effort to buy favor with the ICC, "probably too late." He says he's come to suspect that the threat of an ICC warrant is a sword of Damocles over the Trump administration amid the Iran War. Thiel describes himself as skeptical of that war, saying it is possible the US will lose the soft power war before outlining a mildly esoteric interpretation of US policy on the ICC.
Thiel says that, on the surface, Secretary of State Marco Rubio's condemnation of the ICC might look like a favor to Israel. In his reading, though, it could be a means of protecting Rubio or War Secretary Pete Hegseth from potential future warrants that could be enforced by a left-wing president.
Discussing what he characterizes as middle modernity's (ca. 19th cent.) waning faith in the individual, Peter Thiel draws attention to Thomas Carlyle's "On Heroes, Hero-Worship, & the Heroic in History."
Even as Carlyle oriented his history around what he saw as great men, he warned that they were endangered.
Thiel observes that, although Carlyle's list of great men included everyone from Mohammad to Cromwell to Napoleon—Napoleon marking the last of the modern era to Carlyle—Christ was "conspicuously absent." This prompts the speculation that Carlyle's book was an antichristic manifesto in disguise.
Thiel notes that Napoleon crowned himself Emperor of the French in 1804 in the presence of Pope Pius VII—something he describes as an antichristic parody of Charlemagne's coronation as Emperor of the Romans in 800 by Pope Leo III.
