Sewing Tip:
If you plan to career sew, expect to be asked to sew things you never intended on sewing.
My finger protectors are kitty paws. They're ment to grip paper, but they do a good job of protecting my fingers from damage during sewing.
Sewing Tip:
Keep your fingers protected! Handling sewing needles and pins will damage your skin. Now just from scraps and pokes, but also from embedding and pressing. Use thimbles, silicone finger tips, or bandages. Keep those fingers protected!
Sewing Tip:
Needle pins aren't the only tool you can use to hold fabric together. Hair clips, binder clips, and paper clips work too. Any clip that's small enough will work.
Sewing Tip:
Trying to figure out a pattern can be difficult. One way to start is to sew some plush balls together until you get the shape you're looking for.
Sewing Tip:
if you're looking for craft tools and storage options, check the hardware store first. you'll find a lot of what you need made from sturdier materials at cheaper prices
Sewing Tip:
You don't have to wind your bobbins all the way. If you know you won't need a whole bobbin full of a certain color, it's ok to wind only what you think will be enough.
Sewing Tip:
Having trouble sewing stretchy or silky materials? Sandwiche your project between stabilizer! Tissue paper, baking parchment, and wax paper are all good substitutes for standard sewing stabilizer.
Sewing Commissions Tip:
If you're trying to sew for someone and they are giving you trouble, it's better to decline the sale than put up with the headache. Someone else will be just as interested.
The future of this page is going to be about learning to sew. Sewing is so easy to do, I believe most everyone can do it. I'm going to help you learn through the best of my abilities.
