I was in Dungarvan on Monday night. The laughing & sniggering at farmers questions from senior @Bordbia staff was a disgrace. Not to forget shouting from the stage when the questioning got difficult. The rot runs deeper than Murrin

I bet there will be no delays in public payroll this week!! This is nothing short of a national disgrace particularly when the Minister had the opportunity to bring forward payments into September.

Stunning morning in Bantry for today's 60th commemoration to mark the beginning of the Farmers' Rights March. On Oct 7th, 1966, NFA President Rickard Deasy led 16 local farmers on the 217-mile journey to Dublin. A three-week sit-in on the steps of Government Buildings ensued before NFA were granted negotiating rights.

Poultry farmers outside the Sole restaurant in Dublin today, restaurant co-owned by the Chair of Bord Bia Larry Murrin. The restaurant was using foreign chicken instead of Bord Bia approved Irish chicken when visited by a restaurant reviewer recently.
The protesting poultry growers supply Manor Farm and they are questioning why Mr Murrin was using chicken from overseas instead of their Bord Bia approved Irish chicken.
The tag line of the Sole restaurant is a ‘Taste of Ireland in the heart of Dublin’ yet a recent review of the restaurant by Irish Times food reviewer Corinna Hardgrave questioned the consistency of their food sourcing policy with their claimed ‘food philosophy’.

The Cian Mooney Farm Leadership Scholarship Group are in Brussels this week to gain an insight into the workings of EU agriculture, learning about how policy is shaped in Europe, and how that impacts farmers on the ground. They started their trip yesterday with a visit to Irish Farm Centre where they learned all about the work IFA does on behalf of Irish farmers, before today meeting officials in DG Agri on CAP, the MFF and Generation Renewal. The group also visited the EU Parliament, where they met a number of Irish MEPs, putting questions to them on the key issues facing Irish agriculture and young farmers.

The cost of green diesel has increased by 86% since last Feb. The Govt has a fuel support fund and it should be used again to make a supplementary payment to farmers and contractors. Next month's Budget is too far away.
