Paper Straws Cause Cancer
Freedom-loving Americans have long felt irritated by liberals’ insistence on subjecting them to paper straws. This story bolsters their case. A lot.
A new South Korean study has found that paper straws may cause more environmental damage than their plastic counterparts. Paper acidifies the environment twice as much as plastic, plus has 6.33 times the carcinogenic impact, according to the study. It also highlights how paper straws often do not actually get recycled, as they are too small for recycling plant machines to process.
The study’s analysis of other straw types produced similar findings, showing biodegradable plastic straws with 3.34 times the carcinogenic impact as regular plastic, and bio-based polyethylene straws with 16 times the carcinogenic impact. Donald Trump’s executive order ending Joe Biden’s anti-plastic straw crusade legitimately may have saved lives.
