I think this is a fine time to remind Floridians, our primaries are closed so you must update your voter registration by July 20, 2026 to take part in this GOP showdown.
Iβm giving Byron my vote. IYKYK. π
Interesting ideas. I agree itβs time to shift from the shock of the coming revenue losses and shift to coming up with solutions.
Personally, I want pain before solutions first, then solutions. Cut equally across the board, including police and fire.

I wish people would stop posting about what Amendment 3 will cause in tax base losses and start talking about the solutions to said losses.
I think the solve is obvious and simple:
1) Property taxes are a tax on unrealized gains.
2) When a home is sold, those gains are realized. Florida has 0% capital gains.
3) Local municipalities can collect taxes on the sale of a home via doc stamps; the rates for these doc stamps should go up to replace any shortfalls. Or if it becomes a big enough issue, the state can impose a small state level capital gains tax on the sale of real estate. (But then local municipalities become further dependent on state funding, which is one of the true trojans of Amendment 3 that isn't discussed enough...)
The benefits of doing it this way allow the following:
1) If you choose to stay in your home, it maximizes the benefits of Amendment 3.
2) If you choose to sell your home, you still retain homestead portability, etc., but now pay likely a 3-4% tax on the sale.
3) Local municipalities are now incentivized to approve new housing starts, as the home sales tax on those sales expands their tax base. The sales tax also likely begins to disincentivize private equity/home builders from buying up their own supply of housing as it becomes harder from them to amortize the sales tax over their short term ownership.
True Republicans, who saw MAGA for what it is, who never bent the knee, have always been there. Will they now rise up and take their party back and kick out the MAGAs? Now is as good a time as ever.
.@MichaelSteele unloads on Republicans suddenly second-guessing Trump after the midterm wipeout, warning they canβt spend a decade enabling him and then pretend they had nothing to do with it:
βShut the fuck up; I donβt want to hear that shit from you.β
FBI agents, air traffic controllers, commercial airline pilots, etc. all have age limits.
There needs to be the same for presidents, Congress, and federal (and state) judges.
I want to go lower, but I want to be understanding, how about 80?
Respectfully, I love her. She's done a magnificent job. She's a true pioneer. But, she's 88 years old. She been doing this since 1990. She overwhelmingly won her seat again. Something like 80% to 18%.
This is why I say there should be term limits. North of 70 years old you should be out of the game. At some point mentoring and ushering in new blood should be the mission and priority.
Yet, power is a helluva drug. Some will say it's age discrimination. I just think term limits is how it should be. At some point, yiu need to start grooming your replacement.
I worked for the Detroit Fire Department for 34 years. When I turned 60, I had to retire. I didn't cry about it. I was happy for the next chapter.
$150M spent in Ohio and none for Angie Nixon in Florida. π€¬
Only $750K for Louisiana. π€¬
Only $2.2M for Mississippi. π²
You could have gotten to 60 and beaten the filibuster if you knew how to better budget. π€¬π€¬π€¬
Chuck has to go.
This is great. Iβve long said rather than focus on London, JIA needs to first focus on all of Americaβs major markets and then expand on the continent.
Next up needs to be Seattle, SLC, and elevating Toronto to year round. Then maybe Montreal, some Caribbean, and CDMX by 2035.
San Francisco, here we come! We're excited to announce that @United will launch service to San Francisco (SFO) on Mondays and Fridays, beginning March 29, 2027. Book now at united.com!
Thank you @CityofJax & @JaxShrimp for hosting the @Jaguars at @vystar_ballpark. Itβs really good. ππΎ
I think it could go next level to greatness with game day giveaways, fireworks after scores, a halftime show of some sort, better volume, and a few other enhancements. #IJS
Many reasons why Florida wasnβt part of yesterdayβs blue wave but this, IMO, is the biggest one. From up by 250K to down by 1.5M. π€―
Nixon and Jolly got very close in spite of this. However, real money and energy is needed on the ground, in the streets to close this gap.
π£οΈ THIS!!!
Jolly and Nixon had next to no investment by the DNC and still got very close.
Actually, the DNC left Florida out to dry after 2018. It could be had again if theyβd invest.
Hire Nixon tomorrow morning and get results in 2028.
Nixon took no corporate money, and decided to be people-funded. She had a fraction of the funds of Moody and still came within a few points.
She should immediately be tapped to register voters statewide and develop a plan to turn out the vote in 2028.
Sheβd yield great results.
This is the new normal and people who are slow to wake up to this will wish they hadnβt.
People need to look at flood maps when theyβre deciding where to rent and buy.
Government needs to spend lots more on flood management. LOTS.

For those in counties with flooding, your polling place may have changed. Note that it is possible others may change!
You can always check your polling place at iwillvote.com
Hope the working class folks around the state who are being near flooded right now wake up and vote accordingly.
Stay safe folks. Friendly reminder.
I fought to stop DeSantis from using emergency disaster relief funds for political stunts like Alligator Alcatraz. Ashley Moody allowed it.
I raised the alarm and organized around the 50% cuts to FEMA. Ashley Moody was silent.
We purchased beds, donated money, supplies and food to hurricane survivors. Moody, while Attorney General turned the other way when insurance companies, her donors, denied claims to rebuild homes.
Vote accordingly.
