I don’t always agree with Bret Stephens, but to this eloquent and moving paean to “Real America,” I say AMEN! nytimes.com/2025/04/08/opini… via @NYTOpinion

President Trump’s tariffs are a capricious, destructive and dumb use of American power.
His 19th century fantasy might well end up dragging America back to what it was then — a poorer country marginal to the great currents of global economics and politics.
My take:

Less than three months ago, Jamie Dimon on Trump's tariffs: Probably no big deal. "Get over it."
Now: Oops.
We need better capitalists.

I live on Nob Hill and have been asking this question for sometime. And I call bullshit if any city officials try to claim a high per capita number of cans for a major city. I visit probably 10 major American cities every year and none offer so few cans sfstandard.com/2025/01/31/tr…
Here’s how perverse @Apple has become: if I buy a film via the AppleTV box, it asks me for 20 forms of security verification EVERY TIME. If I buy the same film via the AppleTV app on my smart TV, no issue, no extra verification, nothing. Is Apple trying to kill their little box? Serious question.
Watching Trump at the Chicago Economic Club (@EconClubChi) and, based on audience reactions, the members are all economic illiterates. Sad.
