I get the criticism of Moyes and at times he’s his own worst enemy but yesterday he was on a hiding to nothing. Newcastle on Thursday will be a more relevant marker. Who he picks and how we approach it may prove to be a tipping point for a season that’s in the balance. #EFC

That game went the way practically everyone expected. Lots of effort and commitment but woefully lacking creativity and devoid of any leadership on the pitch. For a side set up to keep it tight, both goals, scored by centre halves, were very soft. #EFC

Arguably the first decent side we’ve played this season and we came up well short. Their first clean sheet in 9 months highlighted our obvious weaknesses. We work hard and keep things tight but without a serious goal threat, good sides will just pick us off. #EFC

Still unbeaten, an away point but it felt like 2 dropped. Done by VAR again but created enough chances to have won. Good goal by Barry but misses too many sitters and no other striker options. AMB is a concern at RB and we’re too easy to score against without JB at CH. #EFC

TFG acquired a discounted asset funded by junk bonds, it was opportunistic with high risk/reward that they’ll now flip at full market value. That risk/reward windfall will be banked and any new owner coming will have limited upside in the current financial climate.

The City appeal is the cue for GCC countries to ramp up behind the scenes political and diplomatic pressure. Hedge funds and PE leveraged buy outs is bad enough but allowing SWF’s to own football teams is the biggest of many Corporate Governance failings made by the PL.

A win, another clean sheet and an unbeaten start to the season. The ownership noise will get louder and the limitations of the squad are obvious but let’s not lose sight of the positives. We have a Manager who can dig out results and a squad of players with a great team spirit.

It’s an away point but could have been more. Still unbeaten, solid defensively but lacked ambition against a side devoid of confidence. Both wide players, against replacement full backs, were poor and nothing stuck up-front. Great attitude that smelt like team spirit. #EFC

The end of the Test cricket summer. NZ series was chastening which saw the demise of Bazball whilst this Pakistan series was just poor. The ECB continues to milk the Test cricket cash cow but won’t get away with high ticket prices for mediocre series such as this one. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇵🇰

Fair play to Moyes, after such a dysfunctional week, adding more fuel to the fire wouldn’t have helped, no matter how much we all would have liked it. He played it just right and left the questions for the CEO and Owners to answer.

Everton was an attractive acquisition to TFG because of the mess Moshiri made which they exploited and reflected in a heavily discounted asset deal. The low hanging fruit has already been picked and any subsequent equity sale will be at full market value which limits the upside.

So much for all the talk of Armstrong and Ndiaye not playing. Well done David Moyes, ignored the noise and picked a side well capable of winning the game. Up the Toffees!

The Everton PR machine has been MIA over the summer but now needs to earn its corn. If the Armstrong situation is something manufactured by Forest and his agent, come out and tell it as it is. Silence isn’t a good strategy right now, unless of course there’s something in it.

After all the noise going into the game, credit to David Moyes. He picked a strong side that delivered a solid professional performance, and the best way to put to bed the ambiguity of earlier in the week. Need to now build on what has been an encouraging start to the season.

It doesn’t need to be a cup or relegation, as Moyes clumsily depicted, but it’s another indication that he’s there to ensure stability whilst TFG execute their transition process. Fans want the hope and ambition the Cups provide, TFG wants to protect the cash cow they bought.

Hilarious that none of the political commentators recognised Peter Reid, in his white linen suit and raybans, on the steps of Downing Street, greeting Andy Burnham. I reckon there’s a good chance he’ll make Kev the Rat his new Defence Secretary.

Having made a big mistake by combining the red and white ball coaching roles under McCullum, another Rob Key blunder, they now have the opportunity to learn from this mistake. Allowing a new Test coach to retain a franchise job will not be learning lessons. It’s all or nothing.

From 317/0 to 438 all out is a fantastic recovery by @englandcricket led by an inspirational Captain. Now is the time for Bazball Mk2 to demonstrate that they’ve moved on from the no consequences approach and they dig in, bat properly and bat long.

We saw it with Alex Carey in the Ashes and are seeing it now with Tom Blundell, the best wicket keepers take wickets, put batters under pressure by standing up and save extras. It’s a pity Bazball doesn’t value this specialist role.

Unlike Lord’s, we’ve a proper 5 day Oval Test track. Fairly even 1st day, plenty of runs on offer with the bowlers needing to work hard for their wickets. @englandcricket bowlers look to lack variation and it’ll be interesting to see what the kiwi’s can get out of the track.
