What Sir Kevin Sinfield has done for the MND community has been hugely important. He has raised awareness of this brutal, terminal
disease, while giving hope to all living with it and its consequences. He is a hero.
“What Kevin does is he can bind and glue communities together"
Prince William has led tributes to Sir Kevin Sinfield, who has raised more than £13m to support motor neurone disease charities in memory of his friend and Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow, who died in 2024.

When Ukraine destroys Russian data centers, hoards of aggressive right-wing bots disappear, and Twitter becomes much friendlier. Isn’t that interesting? So much of our politics is driven by the internet, and so much of the internet is driven by Russians who want to hurt us. Shouldn’t we do something about that, given that we know it?
Really important chart showing how Russian data centres have supported Reform. Their destruction by Ukraine clearest proof of Russian interference in UK politics.
The small boat migrant crisis is a European wide problem that requires European solutions…made far harder in the UK because of Brexit.

Powerful statement from @CarolineLucas on absence of leadership afflicting Green Party after its damaging motion declaring that ‘Zionism is racism’. Zack Polanski’s failure in Holborn & St Pancras by-election well examined by @PeterKellner1 here: kellnerp.substack.com/p/the-…
"I think let's just see what happens in the coming days and weeks"
Former Green Party leader Caroline Lucas on whether Zack Polanski should stand down as leader of the party in England and Wales.

To understand why the Green Party motion on Zionism was unacceptable, just listen to the views of the woman behind the motion and who only joined the Greens to pass it
“We will continue until we dismantle Zionism from the world, from every country. They will be shunned and that time will come when they will be hunted in the same way the Nazi oppressor were …. It won’t happen without force”
Katie Lam worked for Tory defectors Suella Braverman & backed Robert Jenrick against Kemi Badenoch. Now she’s realised her previously ‘safe’ Tory seat in the Weald of Kent is anything but. Little wonder that she’s wants an electoral pact with Reform.
🚨 @MrDavidCatt1 your MP @Katie_Lam_MP is openly contemplating Tories and Reform campaigning together against rejoining in a future referendum.
Her argument is contradictory. She calls reversing Brexit “appallingly undemocratic”, while @andyburnham is proposing a national debate and has explicitly left open another public vote. Apparently democracy was legitimate in 2016 but becomes outrageous if today’s electorate is allowed to reconsider.
Politically, this confirms the trap: the Conservatives are being absorbed into Farage’s project, competing for the shrinking hard-Brexit electorate while Burnham addresses the much larger constituency wanting change.
If the right unites to try preserve Brexit, the progressive majority finally has something clear to unite against.
The mask is slipping: the Tories are openly considering joining forces with Reform to prevent the British people changing their minds. In their world, democracy began and ended in 2016. But no referendum binds a country eternally and the settled will belongs to today’s electorate.
Thanks @lisanandy. As a family that lost our son to this cruel disease, your support means so much to us and all in the MND community.
Thank you @lisanandy for taking part in the extra mile with Sir Kev to support #MND charities ❤️ But even greater thanks for recognising the need for access to treatment across the country and promising to address this along with @YvetteCooperMP. It means everything.

Thank you @YvetteCooperMP 🙏 This means so much for families coping with #MND. We give our care gladly, with love, but the demands are huge.
We welcome today’s announcement by Yvette Cooper, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, to appoint a new champion for unpaid carers. It's been almost 20 years since there was last someone appointed by the UK Government to specifically champion the needs of carers , so we look forward to working with them to ensure the voices of carers and services who support them are heard.
Interesting to hear from @andyburnham that his own door step campaigning experience of being elected Mayor in Manchester under a PR system has influenced his support for electoral reform.
"We've had a decade of turbulence in our politics and I think that has stopped Britain moving forward. If we look to the next decade I think we need to show that we can have a better politics, more about problem solving than point scoring"

“#Brexit has done more harm than good.”
At last the holder of the highest elected office in the land has broken the Omertà on leaving the EU.
An alternative and arguably more accurate quote could be “Brexit has done only harm and no good.”
Time to #RejoinEU.
"Brexit has done more harm than good."
Andy Burnham says he will 'lay out options' at the next reset summit to tighten the relationship between the EU and UK.

In 2022 I was privileged to move successful conference motion on electoral reform & scrapping first past the post. In front row as I came off podium was @andyburnham who kindly told me I had made a great speech. Today his leadership has given hope for a new democracy & fair votes
Superb speech by @andyburnham at #Lab26 setting out a plan to restore hope for Britain that is honest & fair. Game changer for our politics with commitment to electoral reform. At last a leader willing to challenge failures of privatisation, Brexit, & our broken voting system.
Great debate last night @Labour4PR fringe at #LabConf26 on why we need a National Commission on electoral reform. Great expert analysis of increasingly chaotic & unfair system of First Past the Post by @robfordmancs. Tellingly no MP accepted invite to speak in defence of FPTP.
"Millions of people vote and they know their vote doesn't count. Our new Prime Minister has spoken a lot about rewiring Britain - and a fundamental part of that is our voting system"

Very pleased to visit @mndassoc #LabConf26 stand with Ashford MP @sojanuk & meet Isabel Lawicka, Head of Campaigns Policy & Public Affairs to talk about Fast-Track MND care pathway. Sojan knew well our late son Alex lost to MND in 2020 when they were both members @AshfordCouncil.
Great to meet with @andyburnham @SELabour in Liverpool this evening & recall the late @UKLabour leader John Smith. There’s much in our new Prime Minister’s commitment to devolution & social justice that reminds me of the values & leadership of John Smith. #HopeAgain #LabConf26
