I spent six months reporting a story for GQ about a group of elite Ethiopian runners in the Bronx with the question "What do immigrant athletes do when a pandemic robs them of their income?" It led to places I couldn't have imagined. #Immigration #ethiopia

Reporting this story was so much fun. Writing it even more so. Thanks, @Longreads
"In a southwest Virginia fairground, thousands of musicians gather every August to keep a centuries-old tradition from flickering out." For @Longreads, @DavidGeoffreyA heads to Galax for the 90th annual Old Fiddler's Convention.

For this New York City Marathon eve, I wrote a little essay about the race shirts of yesteryear, and why design matters. #nycm #design #vintage run.outsideonline.com/gear/w…
Wrote this short feature for Outside about sub-elite runners ditching the apps to listen to their bodies instead, and finding both fast times and peace of mind in the process. #strava #garmin #running #subelite

It was a real honor to speak to this #sports #journalism class at the University of Tennessee. Thanks to @ShannonScovel for inviting me, and for championing #longform storytelling in the classroom.
More doughnuts (+ the Capital-J journalism trophy presentation for most sources interviewed!) in @UTJEM 475!
Thanks to our guest speakers @DVNJr, @SethWickersham, @EmilyGiam, @DanielLibit & @DavidGeoffreyA! So appreciative of their time and expertise! What a semester!
What a treat it was talking with this curious and inquisitive class at the University of Tennessee. Thank you, Shannon, for inviting me!
.@DavidGeoffreyA blew the minds of my @UTJEM 475 students today with his brilliant insights on profile writing & his genius “clothesline” analogy for longform reporting. What a treat to listen to him talk about his Rapinoe & Rahsaan stories. Thanks, David!

"Camacho has a choice to make: either continue dominating New York’s amateur running scene as the nonbinary athlete they are, or race internationally as a woman. And Camacho has never been a fan of the either/or."

I had the pleasure of talking with @runmarycain about her efforts to effect positive social change with @atalantaNY for the Runners of the Year issue of @runnersworld - posted the same week she settled with @Nike, a chapter she's eager to put behind her.

Rahsaan Thomas was sentenced to life in prison. Last weekend he ran the New York City Marathon. I spent five months working with him on this story for @runnersworld. Thanks, as always, to my wonderful editor @leahflickinger. @earhustlesq @EmpowermentAve

I like to think I played a part in the demise of #Omegle with this 2022 piece for @MotherJones. As @cagoldberglaw told me, "This isn't fucking free speech. This is about criminal conduct."

Like her twin sister, @mPinoe, Rachael Rapinoe was a huge soccer talent until injuries led to an opioid addiction that derailed her career. Now she's on a mission to change how the sports world deals with pain. It was an honor to write this for @GQMagazine gq.com/story/rachael-rapinoe…
