Closed Sierra Leone's National IP Week 🇸🇱 with three SME sessions on trademarks, designs, trade secrets and IP audits.
In 2024, 82% of trademark filings there were by foreign owners. Local brands are the opportunity.

Delighted to have spoken at Sierra Leone's National IP Week 🇸🇱 (@WIPO, Govt of Japan, OARG) on tech transfer, drawing on my experience at Penn Center for Innovation.
Research creates no value on a shelf. Africa needs stronger university–industry bridges.

Talent has never been our problem. Structure is. 🎶
My key takeaway from the Afro-Caribbean Creative Bridge forum in Accra, where I shared the stage with @RockyDawuni and @grampsmorgan. Thank you @WIPO.

For me, it was personal. Talent alone does not build wealth. Knowledge, protection and the right connections do. – at Accra, Ghana
The question I brought into the room: our music already travels the world, so how do we make sure the value travels back home?
My key takeaways are coming soon. 👀

I joined the GCCI delegation visiting İzmir, Türkiye, to explore the organizational excellence of the İzmir International Fair—one of the world's oldest and most respected trade fairs, established since 1936. 🇹🇷 – at İzmir, Türkiye
Our visits to Fuar İzmir and Kültürpark provided invaluable insights on infrastructure, programming, technology and stakeholder engagement that will directly inform our strategy to strengthen and scale Trade Fair Gambia International (#TFGI). 📍
Just completed WACEMS Nigeria 🇳🇬, training 50 women agripreneurs across Abuja & Lagos.
Many had built businesses around names customers love, recipes they perfected & products people travel to buy without knowing these could be IP assets they can own & protect.
@WIPO
Yesterday we wrapped the final WACEMS training round in Ghana. 50 women agripreneurs, 3 cities, Accra, Kumasi and Tamale. I am still thinking about the women who filled those rooms. 🌍🧵 – at Accra, Ghana
WACEMS grew from the Women in Agribusiness project launched in 2024 by WIPO’s Division for Africa, under Loretta Aseidu, on one idea: the women mentored today become the mentors of tomorrow. Piloted in Mali & Niger, upgraded to WACEMS after the @WIPO DG’s visit to Ghana.
