👇Says it all - thank you @VODGmembership @rhidianhughes. Really disappointing yet again there’s been a missed opportunity to address this issue. pretending it isn’t an issue isn’t smart government or smart politics & most sadly it will have a direct impact on people’s lives.
‘The funding allocated for #SocialCare in the #LocalGov Settlement falls far short of what’s needed. To keep ignoring the impact of NICs on organisations commissioned to deliver statutory services fails disabled people & undermines the government’s policy agenda.’ @rhidianhughes

Sober analysis by @VODGmembership on the likely impact on voluntary #socialcare orgs of Budget NIC increases. Most currently pay staff more than the minimum wage so are likely to freeze pay to make savings, as well as hand back contracts. vodg.org.uk/resource/vodg-re…..

Disability charities are set to face an estimated £266m shortfall next year due to increases in employer national insurance contributions (NICs) and minimum wage rates, according to a new survey

VODG and many of our members were early signatories to this letter to the Chancellor following #Budget2024.
This response is extremely disappointing given the breadth of concern and the significant impact we know the increases in NICs will have on frontline care and support.

On the ADASS Survey, @rhidianhughes says, 'It is a broken system when councils are overspending on #SocialCare yet still underfunding third sector providers of essential support. The gov't can't continue to ignore reality and must fully fund provision.'

The latest Budget will likely increase the cost of care. New figures in our Autumn Survey 2024 highlight overspends & savings councils are making, which puts access to care and support for those who need it into question. Read our new report adass.org.uk/documents/adass…

The third sector brings tremendous value to society but the #Budget leaves invaluable support at significant risk.
Charities simply cannot shoulder the financial impact of increased NI, wages and other employment reforms. These costs MUST be fully funded.

Good to see @SamCoatesSky asking @wesstreeting about the plan for social care, but it doesn't sound likely money will be committed in this budget. Talk of fair pay & cross-party agreement welcome but #socialcare needs funding now youtu.be/q4od0EnDa1o?si=G5E3…
