The Trump administration does not plan to recognize Flávio Bolsonaro as Brazil’s rightful leader despite helping him flee to the U.S. after his election defeat.
Trump approved his entry on humanitarian grounds after adviser Jason Miller helped arrange his flight from Argentina.
Bolsonaro initially declared himself “the elected president” before changing his claim to Brazil’s rightful “leader.”
Trump remains reluctant to damage relations with President Lula, whom he says he likes.

Bloomberg: Pentagon chief could face impeachment after US midterm elections
US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth could face impeachment proceedings following the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November 3.
According to Bloomberg, the factors behind the move include the stalemate in the war with Iran, scandals at the Pentagon and declining approval ratings for Donald Trump’s administration.
The initiative has support from representatives of both major US political parties. Hegseth’s opponents say they want to hold the entire Trump administration accountable for the unpopular war in Iran.

Today, I was officially received into the Orthodox Church through Chrismation.
For a long time, I haven't been the best Christian, and strangely enough, I think the time I was closest to God was during my captivity.
While I was a prisoner, I made a small cross out of what was left of the shoelaces they had cut off me. I kept that cross with me throughout my captivity and prayed every single day. At a time when I had very little left, my faith was one of the few things I could hold on to.
But after my release, my mental health took a turn for the worse, and somewhere along the way, I lost that connection with God.
It's taken me a long time to find my way back, but the birth of my daughter has given me a new perspective on life and, more importantly, helped me rediscover my faith.
I know I still have a lot to learn, and I'm far from being a perfect Christian, but today felt like an important step in the right direction.

The US has approved the potential sale of 500 Patriot PAC-3 MSE missiles to Ukraine in a deal worth $2.1 billion.
The purchase will be funded by contributions from Canada, Germany, and Norway through the JUMPSTART program, as well as Ukrainian funds financed by an EU loan.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill (a Democrat) is threatening to block the receipt of Russian diesel fuel at the largest import terminal in the United States, the FT reports.
The governor is currently exploring measures to prevent the unloading of fuel from the aggressor state.
According to her, Trump is not actually doing anything to lower fuel prices, and the agreement with Putin is “illegal and corrupt.”

A Russian Su-57 aircraft has burned down during an attempt to start its engines at Akhtubinsk airfield on October 29.
This is the fourth Russian Su-57 Russia loses this year - two were struck by Ukraine in the spring, and one more was shot down by friendly fire in Moscow region on July 23rd.
Russia can produce four of these aircraft per year at most.

A Houthi ballistic missile strike on a Saudi-run training base in Yemen's Shabwah province on Oct. 19 killed at least 75 people and wounded more than 200, Saudi troops among them.
Saudi and Yemeni officials briefed on the attack say it was the deadliest single Houthi strike of the new war.
Three missiles hit the al-Alam camp within a few minutes, just as Saudi officers were starting a training session for newly enlisted local forces.
Witnesses said four battalions had gathered when the first missile hit, and one of the later missiles struck recruits as they ran from the first blast.
Drones had been circling the base for days beforehand.
Relatives of the dead and wounded blamed the local Yemeni commander for ignoring those warnings.
Officials said the camp had no air-defense or early-warning systems, and Shabwah authorities are now pressing Riyadh to supply them quickly.
