An @MCPS teacher friend sent me the letter. I made it through the 3rd paragraph & was immediately pissed off! If Iām this angry, I cannot imagine how staff feel!

Either way, the process to get these contracts was deemed tainted & ILLEGAL by the state boe so why would he ask to have an ILLEGAL TAINTED contract reinstated & on our taxpayer dime! @MCPS is huge so EV busses are ridiculous & wouldnāt be able to finish routes on one charge.

$168M could employee lots of teachers/staff, buy needed supplies, help fix buildings & allow kids to take field trips (that @MCPS is trying to eliminate).

ā¦over the summer doing TPT (temporary p-t/hourly) work bc the remaining PPWās couldnāt get everything the kids needed in place for the 1st day. @MCPS basically fired most of the PPWs & then had the nerve to ask them to work over the summer toā¦

Specifically PPWs- all but 1 was placed in a 10m position that they qualified for.
PPWs who are left are each covering an ENTIRE CLUSTER. So if a PPWās caseload consisted of 1 HS last yr, they now have that HS, plus the whole cluster by themself, which incls approx 10 schools!

ā¦of origin rather than switching schools anytime they move. PPWs are the only @MCPS staff who are state certified & trained to support those students/fams. PPWs hold the meetings, complete paperwork, order the busses, etc.

Then thereās the students that fall under McKinney Vento, a federal law that protects homeless/displaced students, which in & of itself is a f/t caseload for a PPW. Essentially, when families are forced to move, this allows the child the right to remain in their schoolā¦

Additionally, due to the budget staffing fiasco, the middle schools in that cluster have lost all support of their SW, family engagement specialist, and instead of sharing a PPW w 3 other schools, they share a PPW w 10 schools. So schools are left with basically zero support.

Those staff were entitled to an annual leave payout. The majority recād the payout the beginning of Sept, but many still havenāt recād their payout.
Today, w/o warning, those same staff recād invoices for health ins for July, Aug, & Sept which need to be paid w/in 30 days.
