I return to Expat with another sibling dirge, my intention was gentle poignancy, but shit turned kinda lunatic, thanks again to @manwellperkins for launching another wound into the ether...
Can someone recommend a movie that will absolutely destroy you in the most beautiful way?
Something deeply human that makes you feel connected to the characters, leaves you staring at the credits in silence, and stays in your head for days. Not necessarily sad, just something that makes you feel EVERYTHING.
A film about life, love, loss, loneliness, or the beautiful mess of being human. Something that leaves a little hole in your heart when it’s over.

Watched Fool's Fire, an old American Playhouse adaptation of Poe's Hop-Frog. The title character and his friend Trippetta are played by actors, the rest are puppets. Jacobean in its excess. It was directed by Julie Taymor, who made Titus a few years later. Worthy of your Halloween rotation

Novalis, Hymns to the Night:
“What heaven, what pleasure does your life offer which outweighs death’s delights? Doesn’t all that inspires us bear the color of the Night? It bears you mother-like, and you owe all your magnificence to her.”

One of the most incredible continuous single shots in cinema history. Children of Men - 2026. Alfonso Cuaron.
Emmanuel Lubezki consideró imposible filmar la escena del coche en "Children of Men" (2006). Alfonso Cuarón le dijo que haría la escena en CGI. Lubezki lo tomó como un desafío y la escena se logró en una sola toma. #CinemaMasterpiece
You fucking philosophical bitches, read THE LOGIC OF SENSE by Deleuze, when he explores Under The Volcano and the Consul's alcoholism as "A hardening of time."
America is a teenage psycho, nothing more, we don't have blessed antiquity in our veins...
The supermarket scene and movie theater scene themselves are works of art...
