"Prayer changes things" is the popular slogan. Aquinas would correct you: prayer changes nothing in God, and everything in the plan.
Most people assume that if God is unchanging, petitionary prayer is incoherent. You are asking an eternal mind to change its mind. Either prayer works and God is mutable, or God is immutable and prayer is theater.
Aquinas rejects the dilemma entirely.
In the Summa Theologiae (II-II, q. 83), he argues that God's will is eternally fixed. No request alters it. But that is not a problem for prayer. It is the very reason prayer exists.
Providence does not merely decree ends. It ordains the means. And God has willed to give certain goods through the instrument of your petition. Not because He needs your input, but because He chose to accomplish His plan through secondary causes.
The farmer's irrigation is the ordained means of the harvest. He does not beg rain into existence against the order of nature. He cooperates with it.
So when you petition God, you are not informing Him of your needs. He knew them before you did. You are, in Aquinas's terms, meriting the reception of what He eternally intended to give through that very act of asking.
Prayer is also an act of the virtue of religion. It orders the soul toward God as the source of every good. The petition changes you before it changes anything else.
This is why " Thy will be done" is not resignation. It is the most precise description of what prayer actually does.
The modern assumption is that a fixed plan makes prayer pointless. Aquinas answers: a fixed plan is what makes prayer powerful.
Does this resolve the tension for you, or does petitionary prayer still feel like it requires God to genuinely reconsider?

A commercially successful RAS inh + PRMT5 inh combo may end up the one with least GI issues as this toxicity is emerging as important for pts taking $RVMD daraxonrasib and will be for any combination
$BMY navlimetostat causes vomit in 26- 30% range similar to daraxonrasib .. thus combo may be challenging from vomit and potentially liver enzymes.
From recent $TNGX combo data vomit rate was 16% , even less than reporter with daraxonrasib alone which could be related to 100 mg dose from favorable DDI
$TNGX plus $ERAS combo may end up with best GI tolerability given very low vomit rate seen with eras 0015
$TNGX mgt today talked about $BMY asset as causing little rash that may aggravate $RVMD rash in combo
They failed to highlight that BMY also reported hepatic toxicity as below and daraxonrasib causes single digit ALT elevation ? Will be interesting to see how combo fair.
Anyway this combo is 1 year behind TNGX and I believe TNGX + $ERAS combo will dominate long term from efficacy and tolerability perspectives.

Well, another Cardinal has come out with a, shall we say, puzzling take on evangelization.
A few years ago, Cardinal Américo Aguiar, at the time auxiliary bishop of Lisbon, said that he and the other organizers of World Youth Day in his hometown had no interest in converting anyone to Christ.
Now Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algeria has opined that “the Church is not there to convert” and “Christians should approach other religions through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.”
Excuse me, but…what?
Last time I checked, the Founder said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Sure sounds like conversion to me.
When St. Paul came to Corinth or Athens or Thessalonica, his purpose was not to listen or to form a discussion group but rather to declare an unnerving message: the euangelion (glad tidings) that Jesus Christ is risen from the dead.
So impassioned is he for this work that he says, “I have become all things to all people, that I might by all means save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:22); and “If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting, for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:16)!
Moreover, the entire thrust of the Second Vatican Council was toward bringing the Light of Christ to the peoples of the world (Lumen Gentium). And this missionary élan has given rise in the last few decades to the idea of a “new evangelization,” which is to say, a fresh declaration of the Lordship of Christ.
Quite obviously, no one thinks that this work of evangelization should be done in a brow-beating, overbearing, or disrespectful manner (proselytization), but for God’s sake, let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job.

ESMO 2026 - pancreatic cancer, all you need to know.
1) KRAS is finally druggable, which slammed the door open for a new era in treating this disease. This week, two drugs added to chemotherapy shrank tumors in 63–87% of patients, not just stabilization, numbers nobody has seen in this disease.

2) And one moved to where cure lives. Given before surgery, 97% of patients reached the operating table and every operation removed the tumor completely. Add immunotherapy to the mix and we might increase efficacy further.

Caveats throughout: early-phase, small, survival data immature, much of it from single countries. But this means progress never seen in treating this disease.
3) Daraxonrasib was the very first drug to revolutionize pancreatic cancer care and we continue to learn. Very early data seem to indicate a better efficacy of daraxonrasib with KRAS-G12V mutations rather than the more common G12D. Which in turn makes combinations with a dedicated G12D inhibitor like zoldonrasib very promising. Data pending, we should know more next year.

KRAS inhibitors strike once again: A pancreatic cancer combination just reported a 75% response rate in the untreated metastatic setting.
In a disease where 25-30% has been the ceiling for decades or forever.
This trial added a KRAS-G12D inhibitor - which is the most common KRAS variant - to standard chemotherapy in 50 patients: tumors shrank in 62.5% with a 2 chemo-drug-regimen, 75% with a 3-chemo-drug-regimen. In that second group, every patient's disease was at least held in check.
Still after all that daraxonrasib hype, those are mindblowing numbers. Absolutely unprecedented.
A bigger study in the same setting is currently running, I have already included patients there myself. Let’s see the final results of that, but they will be similar in my opinion.
Exciting times in pancreatic cancer care!

In pancreatic cancer, surgery is the only real chance of cure, and most patients never get there, because of distant metastases or the tumor is wrapped around vessels that can't be removed.
This trial from China tried shrinking it out of the way first, with a KRAS drug AND immunotherapy before the operation.
In the group that also got immunotherapy, 97% reached surgery, and every surgery removed the tumour completely with clear margins.
Usual caveats: It’s a small trial of 30 per group with no control arm, no reportable survival data yet, and as far as I know Chinese data from one hospital.
But this is the first KRAS data in the curable setting in this era. More trials are needed to confirm this early signal, but it’s only a matter of when, not if, that KRAS inhibitors also improve the curative setting. A lot of trials including with daraxonrasib are already running.
