Science has confirmed that a weekend spent forest bathing can increase the activity and number of disease fighting cells in the immune system by as much as 80 percent with benefits that can last for an entire month. The challenge is significant. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency the average American spends approximately 90 percent of their life indoors a habit that contributes to growing health problems. In our screen filled and high stress world a centuries old Japanese practice supported by rigorous modern research offers a simple and effective natural solution. For more than two decades Dr. Qing Li an immunologist at Nippon Medical School has studied Shinrin yoku also known as forest bathing. His work has translated the calming experience of being in nature into measurable biological effects. Dr. Li has demonstrated that trees release phytoncides antimicrobial volatile organic compounds that form part of the forests natural defense system. When people inhale these compounds during walks in the forest the chemicals enter the bloodstream. This process reduces stress hormones and helps shift the body from a chronic fight or flight state into a restorative mode. The physiological benefits are both powerful and remarkably long lasting. Dr. Lis research shows that exposure to phytoncides significantly boosts the number and activity of natural killer cells. These white blood cells are essential for destroying virus infected cells and tumor cells. A three day two night forest bathing trip can increase natural killer cell activity by up to 80 percent. These protective effects do not disappear immediately upon returning to daily life but can persist for up to a month. This evidence makes a strong scientific case for incorporating regular time in nature as an important element of preventive health care. [Li, Q. (2022). Effects of forest environment (Shinrin-yoku/Forest bathing) on health promotion and disease prevention: The establishment of 'Forest Medicine'. Environmental Health and Preventive Medicine, 27, 43]

A groundbreaking carbon dioxide battery project in Ireland is repurposing a former fossil fuel power plant into a center for lithium free long duration energy storage. Energy Dome and Google have signed a commercial agreement to develop a 23 megawatt 200 megawatt hour CO2 battery facility in County Offaly Ireland. The system is expected to begin operations by 2028. Unlike conventional lithium ion batteries which face significant challenges with supply chains and rare mineral extraction Energy Domes technology draws on surplus grid electricity to compress and store carbon dioxide. During periods of high electricity demand the stored gas is expanded through a turbine to produce clean reliable power that is returned to the grid. The project is situated on the site of a decommissioned peat fired power station. It has already obtained the necessary land rights planning approval and a 10 year grid connection agreement with EirGrid Irelands transmission system operator. This initiative represents an important advancement in Googles partnership with Energy Dome to roll out long duration carbon based energy storage solutions across Europe North America and the Asia Pacific region. The announcement follows a similar June 2026 agreement for a 19 megawatt 200 megawatt hour CO2 battery project in Arizona also located at a former fossil fuel site with Google backing. By converting existing energy infrastructure and avoiding reliance on rare earth minerals Google and Energy Dome are developing a scalable approach to strengthening the power grid and achieving reliable carbon free electricity around the clock. 🚨THIS IS HORRIFIC🚨 An islamic Family jailed for 95 years after raping and torturing girl from age six in 'shocking' household evil Father (33 years), two brothers (26.5 and 13.5 years), mother (10.5 years), grandfather (9 years) and uncle (3 years) convicted of rape, sexual assaults, cruelty and perverting justice at Lewes Crown Court. The girl was bound, beaten, burned with hot wax and cigarettes, rubbed with salt, locked in cupboards and groomed with toys – grandfather assaulted her during Eid celebrations. Mother tortured her to "preserve family honour", enlisting uncle to silence her; judge branded it pervasive violence by those meant to protect her. Please do not mention family names in comments to help preserve the girls anonymity, thank you!

In the middle of a bullfight, Álvaro Múnera did something that stunned everyone watching. The crowd was roaring. The bull charged hard. The moment the ritual demanded had arrived. Múnera lifted his cape, moving exactly as years of training had taught him to move. And then he stopped. He sank down into the sand and sat there. No pose. No gesture for the crowd. Just silence. The noise faded, replaced by confusion and disbelief. Later, he tried to explain what changed inside him. He said the horns no longer looked like a threat. When he met the bull’s eyes, he did not see fury. He saw fear. Innocence. An animal forced into violence it never chose. “This wasn’t a fight,” he said afterward. “It was cruelty.” He set the sword down and walked out of the arena, knowing he would never return. That moment ended his life as a matador, but it opened another path. Múnera became a vocal critic of bullfighting and animal abuse. He spoke to students, wrote about his transformation, and worked alongside groups defending animals. He taught that empathy matters more than tradition, and that real bravery can mean refusing to harm when harm is expected. Many accused him of betraying his culture. Others laughed at the idea that compassion could outweigh applause. He did not back down. The man who once killed for cheers chose instead to stand for mercy. His story reminds us that no custom is beyond question, and no life is locked into a single role. Sometimes everything changes in one instant. One look. One choice. One quiet decision to walk away.
