On Jim’s Electronics THIS week: Nintendo Switch 2 After a long Switch-fix hiatus fancied seeing inside a 2. Loads of missing screws and came with the side panels stuck to the back. Seems ok though, so just charged it for an hour or so and VOILA. Works fine! Lol.

Ok so seems it’s pretty far from working. Went back to it today and it’s dead again. Has a big internal bracket missing too. Still, not being water damaged is always a big win!

So it works perfectly, even seems to hold battery sans charger. Left it for a few mins to get a game cart. Then everybody’s dead Dave, again. Standby seems to lock it out and flatten the battery. Curiouser and curiouser!

When I’m Governor of the Universe, my first port of call will be to make all cars have to have a neat first party retrofit solution for an external CTEK quick connector charge socket so you don’t have to open the bonnet to charge the 12V battery like this. #CTEK #E46

Yes you can get an extension lead and dangle it out the front grille but that’s a bit bobbins — hence the manufacturer should sort it. Type2/CCS charge ports are provided for [PH]EVs, so why not have a good solution for charging old skool petrol cars’ 12V lead acid batteries too?

Using crocodile clips to charge a 12V battery works obviously, but that’s so 2025. All the cool kids use CTEK comfort connectors. But a 20+ year old car doesn’t want constant unnecessary bonnet-openings. Won’t someone think of the release cable!!!
