Newest blog post out now! Almost 1,400 new homes could be coming to the Uptown neighborhood in just a few years. Or, maybe a lot of them will just fizzle out. Read on! denverinfill.com/2025/11/upt…

These turns suck because they are simply more dangerous. Period.
But they also give license for drivers to creep, block crosswalks, and ignore pedestrians walking against traffic (because they're looking for vehicles approaching)
Turns on red are bad and they need to go.

We're thrilled that the Governor signed SB23-200 into law yesterday. SB23-200 will expand where and when cities and towns can use speed cameras. (1/4)

So thrilled for @Shontel4Council @DarrellBWatson @ChrisForDenver and @MikeJohnstonCO!
Denver elected a slate of YIMBY-endorsed pragmatic progressive voices last night with unique and necessary perspectives.
We will be so well served by their leadership.

Congratulations Denver Mayor-Elect @MikeJohnstonCO. We look forward to working with you to make Denver streets safer, more equitable, and more sustainable for people that bike, walk, and take transit.

We are so proud to have been the first organization to endorse @MikeJohnstonCO and we cannot wait to see Mike pursue pro-housing policies to make Denver more affordable for everyone. Congrats Mike!

A better answer would be, "I will support DOTI when they get pushback. I will support protected and connected infrastructure because we know that works. I will push them to utilize our right of way in a manner that allows those outside a vehicle to use it safely"

We have a department full of professionals who know what works. We have professors at out local university who have studied what works.
What we don't have is a mayor who supports them when they design protected lanes that we know work.
This is a non answer and a dangerous one.
Longer @KellyBroughDen on bike lanes. "I don’t know that we’re building them in a way that is improving safety, and my priority is safety when we build those."

Mayor Peña inspired Denver to imagine a great city, then made that a reality by transforming Denver into a vibrant economic hub. I am so proud to have his support as we stand at another crossroads & work to bring bold, detailed plans to tackle Denver's toughest challenges.

A few observations after listening to hours of SB 213 testimony last week. As a former mayor, I have nothing but respect for the sincerity and good intentions of those local electeds who testified in opposition. But there are some problems with their arguments.....(1/n)

What if every time a person is killed by a motorist, the street where it happens is permanently shut down to cars and trucks and becomes a green space/bikeway/pedestrian-filled public space? What would our city be like in a decade?

North American cities often go from skyscrapers to sprawl because we’ve made middle housing styles like fourplexes and mixed-use multiplexes illegal. If we want to build livable, human-scale places again, we have to start by legalizing them with zoning and parking reforms.

Really critical! Some folks waffling on the impact on affordable housing due to this bill.
But if denser development/TOD is legalized, it expands the reach of Denver's EHA policies (only apply to 10-unit devs or more) and allows non-profit, affordable devs to more easily build
Replying to @MattFrommer
Inclusionary zoning hitches the Affordable Housing wagon directly to multifamily housing, so by allowing more multifamily near transit & jobs, the bill also boosts Affordable Housing potential. (i.e. 30% increase in MF potential = 30% increase in AH potential).

.@GovofCO Jared Polis thinks density is the magic bullet for high housing costs. I took a look at research to try to answer whether he’s right or not.

(The answer, in short, is there’s a lot of research to suggest that restricting supply drives up prices and adding more helps temper them. And that sprawl is expensive. But you should still read the story 😘)
