The Waterloo stabbing is an important reminder to my Canadian colleagues that anti-trans violence and gender fascism are not uniquely American. Hate speech might get more air time on American news, but it does no one good to pretend the hate itself is not present here.

Professors and staff who work on gender studies, feminism, gender-based violence and anti-racism at post-secondary campuses have been raising the alarm on raising hate, stalking, threats and violence. At what point will it be taken seriously?
