54 years ago tonight, October 26, 1972, the Boston Garden scene in “The Friends of Eddie Coyle” was filmed during an actual Bruins-Blackhawks game. Chicago won 6-3.
The only fake part? The organ music.
It was added in post-production because legendary Garden organist John Kiley hated hockey so much he'd leave for coffee during games.
When the Jacobs brothers bought the Bruins and Boston Garden in 1975 for $10 million, they finally made him stick around and play. 🎹🏒
