Everything I've read from experienced pilots with thousands of hours in a Lear 60 suggests that that particular business jet is extremely unforgiving and very temperamental at altitude.
It has very stubby unswept wings which don't make an abundance of lift (see below) that require the pilot keep the airframe in a fairly specific flight profile at altitude.
It's the kind of jet that you fly all the way around bad weather or land, the last thing you want to try is storm overflight because it has something called a "coffin corner", does not handle turbulence well and can high speed stall at altitude.
This plane should not have been trying to fly where it was in the sky. ATC advised the pilots of as much right before they crashed and they did it anyway.
Totally avoidable.
We want planes with wings that generate copius lift in all conditions and pilots who avoid bad weather like the plague.
Look how tiny the wings are on the Learjet 60.
