3. Chapter 485｜Thriller Bark Arc: Sanji begs Kuma to take his life and spare Luffy and the crew.

The two people in One Piece who understand self-love the best: Iron Fist Garp and the Miracle Person, Iva.
Garp is Luffy’s grandpa, and Iva is Sanji’s teacher (during the timeskip).
Maybe Luffy’s so strong because he grew up getting punched with “fists of love” all the time (just kidding).
As for Sanji, Iva made him realize something important: his body is made of love—his mom’s love, Zeff’s sacrifice and dream, the fact that he’s Luffy’s best cook, Zoro’s only rival, and the most reliable one for his crewmates.
With all that love on his shoulders, how could he just throw his body away? It’s more precious than any treasure.

I absolutely love this color page. The text on Zoro’s clothes is from the ancient Irish hymn 《Rop tú mo baile》 (“Be Thou My Vision”), an extremely old prayer.
It comes from the fifth verse: “Be thou my battle shield, be thou my sword,” followed by “Be thou my glory, be thou my joy.” Oda really knows how to write😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I’ve waited over two years and more than a hundred chapters just to see Sanji awaken Conqueror’s Haki, and now my dream has finally come true😭😭😭
I love seeing Killingham go from looking down on Sanji at the start to being terrified the second he sees him. Sanji’s a straight-up monster—he went from unlocking Conqueror’s Haki to fully coating with it in an instant. Absolute king shit, my prince.

Conqueror’s Haki isn’t only for attack; it can also strengthen the body for defense🛡. This explains his earlier feats:
1. Against Seraphim Jinbe, he took the hit head-on and called it the “power of love.”
2. He blocked Kizaru’s laser, leaving Kizaru shocked, saying love is stronger than light.

Predictions (Part 1)
Killingham attacks Sanji, but Sanji dodges every attack and counters.
Killingham praises Sanji for becoming stronger, yet still mocks him for not having mastered Conqueror’s Haki, claiming that ordinary attacks are useless against him.
Sanji ignores the taunts and simply keeps increasing the power of his attacks. His final kick manages to injure Killingham. At that moment, Sanji’s Conqueror’s Haki successfully leaks out, causing Killingham to start showing fear.
Sommers flees to Killingham’s side. Zoro and Sanji then reunite, with both of them commenting that the other looks stronger than before.
I really like this part. Because of the fear of Beerus he had since childhood, Vegeta was unable to unleash his full power. But when he saw Beerus hit Bulma, he overcame that fear and became stronger.
