Disc Medicine, which licensed bitopertin from Roche in a $200 million deal with an undisclosed upfront, has now nabbed $90 million to take the drug in a completely different direction: rare genetic disorders known as erythropoietic porphyrias.

Very keen on this. Masterful redeployment of Roche's GlyT1 Ph3 inhibitor, Bitopertin. Attenuates protoporphyrin-IX buildup (e.g. in EPP patients) by blocking glycine uptake (PP-IX precursor) into RBCs. Massive clinical experience enables @DiscMedicine to go directly to Ph2.
We are excited and proud to announce we have in-licensed a novel, clinical-stage program from our partner @Roche, which will expand our hematology portfolio. The asset will be developed to treat erythropoietic #porphyrias.
