Xbox fans went from “you don’t know what E-Day cost” to “I know exactly how that $500M was allocated” in a single news cycle.

When 136 employees were laid off at id Software Destin implied Xbox would just cut some fat from the pandemic years.

Yall I put the layoffs together because they all happened near each other.
The Sony defense force came out of the woodwork to defend the Sucker Punch layoffs is the lamest thing I’ve seen in a minute on this app.
Oh and like 3 more big layoffs announcements happened since.
Weird people never have these sad sympathetic takes with PlayStation or Nintendo? Just sympathy for the wealthiest corporation in the history of mankind…
Honestly, I’m getting tired of the constant doom and gloom surrounding XBOX and Microsoft.
Every announcement, every business decision, every game release somehow becomes another opportunity for people to declare that XBOX is collapsing, that its games aren’t selling, or that its future is in danger. And now we’re already seeing people writing Gears of War: E-Day’s financial obituary before the game has even had the chance to prove itself.
Let’s be realistic for a moment. None of us has access to Microsoft’s internal financial data, development budgets, Game Pass economics, long-term revenue projections or the strategic reasoning behind its decisions. We don’t know what the actual business case for E-Day looks like. So how can anyone confidently claim that the game has little chance of being profitable?
A game’s value cannot always be measured by traditional sales figures alone. Game Pass engagement, subscriptions, player retention, franchise growth, merchandise, future releases and the long-term value of an established IP all contribute to a much bigger picture.
And making Gears of War: E-Day an XBOX exclusive is not automatically a financial mistake. Gears is one of the defining franchises of the XBOX brand. Investing in it, protecting its identity and giving The Coalition the opportunity to deliver something exceptional is exactly the kind of commitment people have been asking Microsoft to show.
I have absolutely no problem with criticism. XBOX deserves scrutiny, just like every other platform holder. But there’s a massive difference between constructive criticism and constantly pushing a narrative that everything Microsoft touches is doomed to fail.
At some point, it becomes exhausting. Not every decision is a disaster , not every game is a failure and NOT every business strategy needs to be declared dead by people who don’t have any clue..
I’m tired of speculation being presented as fact, gamers being treated like they need to justify their choices, and “reviewers”acting as if they have all the answers.
You can criticize the decisions, question the strategy, discuss the numbers. But stop lecturing gamers, stop pretending speculation is financial analysis, and stop trying to turn every XBOX conversation into another funeral.
I genuinely haven’t seen a single person “demand” it be released on PlayStation 😅 if seen people argue it should have to maximise revenue.
I actually like that Americans think this. Hopefully they stay away 😂 I’ll take my £300 mortgage for my own house with my big garden and 2 holidays abroad a year (while getting paid). You keep paying your HOA more than my mortgage. 😂 believe me, we don’t want to swap!
How does this guy have a job in games media? He’s fucking stupid 😂 He’s a founder so he’s probably someone’s boss… terrifying!
Tony isn’t even saying this. Microsoft is a business not a charity. If something does make them money, they’ll stop doing it!

One of the pillars of Xbox, that was available on multiple platforms, barely outsold a niche title exclusive to ps5 and you’re asking for consistency? How about we stop the disingenuous white knighting 💀

🚨 Bloomberg's Jason Schreier - Gears of War E-Day DID Cost $500 Million to make - that is a real number!!!
Alex sneak begging for PC ports 😂😂😂
Difference here being, the 4 PS exclusives made a profit 🤭
S-Game has already confirmed Sony didn’t pay for timed exclusivity btw.

He's flexing with Steam numbers...
Desperately trying to hype up their favorite plastic box, even though Sony (paying for timed console exclusive) has almost nothing to do with the game.

This guy really thinks PlayStation not including the DLC to PS Plus when they added FF7 Remake is some kind of W for Xbox… ignoring that FF7 Remake was added to PS Plus BEFORE the DLC even released! 😅 Honestly this app is full of thick cunts 😂

Come correct pussy.
Xbox gave everyone the DLC included today. PlayStation didn't until later.
What don't you understand? Not only that it's a better price right now on Gamepass.
Worst PlayStation generation they said 🤭
Yet still completely dominating, what does that say about the “competition”? 😂
