While advising Congress on disclosure, David Grusch was also listed as an officer of a private metamaterials startup positioned to bid on the very materials he was pushing the government to seize from legacy contractors.
April 2025 — Appointed Special/Senior Advisor to Rep. Eric Burlison’s House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets. Helps draft inquiries and push the UAP Disclosure Act to legally divest “technologies of unknown origin” from legacy defense firms.
Same period — Public SAM.gov records list him as COO and official Government Business POC for StarDustX Materials, Inc., co-founded with Karl Nell (CEO through Sept 2025) and tied to Garry Nolan.
The company was structured to bid on, synthesize, and analyze advanced aerospace/defense metamaterials.
May 2026 — StarDustX completes formal federal contractor registration.
June 9, 2026 — One month later, Grusch stands on the Capitol steps with Burlison, Luna, Burchett, and Moskowitz. He attacks legacy contractors over “slush funds” and demands federal clawback + outside analysis of crash-retrieval materials.
After researchers posted the paper trail, his name was scrubbed from the public contractor registries.
Cited standards: House Rule 23 (Clauses 2–3) and 18 U.S.C. § 208. Overlap of official advocacy and private procurement positioning is the issue.
Next steps the complaint calls for: a formal House ethics inquiry; testimony from Rep. Burlison (employing member), Karl Nell (corporate timeline vs. UAPDA drafting), and Dr. Garry Nolan (scientific/procurement ties); and a clean accounting of whether disclosure language was shaped to advantage a newly registered deep-tech startup.
Appearance of conflict is already documented. Actual improper influence still has to be proven.

What remains so irritating about Neil deGrasse Tyson's current "conversion" is that he still can't help himself from stereotyping witnesses from the past as a "farmer in the back" and "drunken revelers at 2am." This was not true when he was saying it then, and it's not true when he's saying it now.
There have always been credible established observers. Hell, Kenneth Arnold was an experienced pilot who was very measured and specific about his 1947 observation. Has he read any of these thousands and thousands of cases? Even in the period where he's putting people down, there were pilots, police, military, doctors, lawyers, scientists, astronomers, etc. who saw these things.
If you're trying to clean up your act, Dr. Tyson, then do it, but stop putting down earlier witnesses and trying to make them the object of your derision. I'm sick of it.
And to Chris Cuomo... hey, man, don't laugh with this man. Hold him f***ing accountable.

There was the farmer in his back, there were drunken revelers at 2 a.m. staggering out of the bar. And it would be their accounts of UFOs that would get reported on.
And beginning a few years ago, and all of you in the media just ate it up when various whistleblowers and insiders, they're not drunken revelers. There's a parade of them. Many of them former military, ex intelligence agency officers and under oath in front of Congress.
By the way, this is the last and only time I remember in the past decade where both houses of Congress were just together with one investigative purpose. I was quite impressed by that. Aliens brought us together.
So when these people of high rank started reporting, I said, ‘All right, I have to jump in here. I can't stay silent. I have to be a participant in what's going on’.”
