Remember when Sarah Polley made Stories We Tell, supposedly about a paternity question in her family history, but it actually turned out to be a meta-documentary about truth, narrative, and subjectivity? Or when Banksy made Exit Through the Gift Shop, which at first seemed to be about street artist Thierry Guetta but in the end turned out to be a meta-documentary about truth, art, and subjectivity? Remember when Rodney Ascher made Room 237, nominally about hidden meanings in The Shining, but really about truth, narrative, and subjectivity?
Would you believe me if I told you that You Can See Everything is only superficially about Elizabeth Holmes, that actually it's a meta-documentary about truth, narrative, and subjectivity?
Let’s set aside the fact that Amanda Seyfried shows up to atone for her Hulu biopic and that her plotline is copied from The Act of Killing, which itself stole its main gimmick from some Cambodian guy’s movie about the Khmer Rouge. Here we have another postmodern prestige doc which either can't find something to say about its subject or thinks having a subject is gauche, so it throws up its hands and settles for a thematic focus on "unknowability" instead—not out of necessity, not because it’s about the Zodiac Killer and they can’t find him, but just because they think that kind of abstraction is high-minded.
Every cliche is here: The filmmaker deliberately entangled with his subject, the film happily exposing its own artifice (because only dolts who believe in “objectivity” would try to hide that), the reflexive, flamboyantly meta structure which I guess is supposed to feel truth-coded, or remind you of truth and untruth in some way. Letterboxd users, who learned in college that truth is hopelessly mired in perspective, certainly appreciate these decisions and feel the movie is a “hall of mirrors,” but I found it boring and legible. I’ve already seen Capturing the Friedmans, Tabloid, F for Fake, Letter From Siberia, etc. I already know about “subjectivity.” I actually discovered it when I was a child and I began to experience the world.
So yes, this is another The Ambiguity Is The Point movie. That’s why it's titled You Can See Everything—because you can’t. And that’s why some of the posters show Elizabeth Holmes but kind of blurry, because it’s about truth, which is also blurry. And if you think that’s mind-blowing then you will probably like the movie. Personally, I think the filmmakers are confusing an empirical problem with an epistemic one, so actually their theming doesn't line up, because a lot of their questions are in fact quite "knowable," but whatever
Muse is genuinely appalling. I asked it to disconnect from all services and it "forgot" that it was connected to Stripe. LOL. Absolute horror show.
The New York Times and every other propaganda publication are calling the Monday's Israeli election the most consequential of our time.
Here's why it doesn't matter at all.

I gave Meta's Muse AI personal assistant access to literally all my personal details and logins and used it to plan my big road trip throughout New England.
At one point, exhausted from long stretches of driving, I used it to decide whether to forego an existing hotel reservation so I could stay somewhere closer by. Muse completely hallucinated and told me that the reservation had only been 50% paid for, when in fact it had been fully paid for. It was the one that suggested the idea, and it told me this several times and encouraged me to skip the reservation because it was only half...while this was completely untrue. Totally made up and wrong.
So I booked another hotel, only to find out after the fact that I paid full price for two hotel rooms for the same night.
Never use Muse to plan stuff. It will tell you wrong financial information, and you will make decisions on that information, then it will apologize, admit it was wrong, and stick you with the bill.

This dude @AndrewAsksHow 's entire acc is just stealing other people's tweets
Everyone is always rooting for you. Your parents want you to be a great son. Wife wants you to be a great husband. Your boss wants you to be a slam dunk hire. Every first date you’ve ever been on they’ve been rooting for you to get laid. Every time you started to tell a joke people hoped it would have a hilarious punch line. Your proximity to anyone is a reflection of themself, meaning the deck is never stacked against you, and your failures are completely your own
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

You shouldn't be playing peekaboo.
How many times do we read throughout Scripture: “Do not fear.”
And yet, we let mama pretend to disappear. This is a direct contradiction of Jesus’ commands to not be fearful or be anxious about anything.
Trump directed the prisons to stop transing inmates.
Prisons began to implement a plan to cease trans treatments.
Ultra liberal DC Circuit ordered prisons to refuse Trump's order.
The Supreme Court just denied the Trump admin's request to stay (meaning ignore) the DC Circuit's order, with only Thomas and Alito dissenting.
The "care" transgender inmates receive is free, taxpayer funded hormone therapy, makeups and wigs, and even surgery.
What's insane is that the supposed basis for this is that the prisoners are suffering from "dysphoria," a mental illness, and the only known cure is chemically and socially transing them. Yet simultaneously everyone in support of this policy would swear up and down that these inmates aren't mentally ill, that they are in fact women.

I love what these guys are doing, but I especially love this section. It allows me to know what women are thinking without having to interact with them at all. It’s a priceless service we all benefit from. 🫡

"being a woman will always be better than existing as a man"
Painting by Alex Colville called In the Woods. 1976. Also the guy who painted the famous gun beach house painting that inspired Heat, AND whose paintings look like early PlayStation polygons. Really cool artist.
Actually incredibly accurate besides New Haven pizza, cheesesteak, and deep dish, which are not overrated. Just came back from Maine/New England and lobster rolls are v overrated. The oysters on the other hand…best I’ve ever had by far. Particularly on cape cod. Whoever made this map either had good source or knew what they were talking about
