GM frens. And Happy Thanksgiving. Now go make poor life decisions and eat those deviled eggs, have some pie, and enjoy the stuffing. Don’t forget to tell your Tribe you’re thankful for them.
Just finished Glass Factory by @braxton_mccoy. It’s heavy, not in a sense of physical weight, but the story told. It’s raw. It hits in all the right places. Buy it. Read it. Gift it. I can’t recommend it enough.
“Slay your dragons - or they will consume you.”
“I was going to fight to take back my life again. Not just because I wanted to, but because I had to, because they couldn’t.” - @braxton_mccoy.
I think I need to visit Arlington again.
What’s this, @braxton_mccoy? And here I was expecting 300 of them…
Go outside and touch grass.
Workout.
Read to your kids.
Your victories lift up your family, and your failures or inaction to make yourself better let your family down.

As tragic as the mass-shootings are, armed citizens are essential to the defense of democracy

Going to do a poker night and bbq this month for the local VA nursing home.
Two things the old timers love. We’re doing it because it’s not Veterans Day or any other special day…they’re just special to us.
Will put some mugs up tomorrow that will go toward the drive and if you’d like to donate for it here is a link.
Any amount helps.

Reading “The Devil’s Hand” by @JackCarrUSA. The preface was outstanding. But the prologue hits close to home, knowing that someone from my tiny hometown was employed at Cantor-Fitzgerald. And knowing that moment was probably what propelled me to join the Navy 5 years later.
Do yoga.
Lift weights.
Run. Bike. Swim.
Love your spouse.
Grow your children.
Inspire the future you want.
Parenting is hard. It’s expensive. It’s labor-intensive. It’s a thankless, never ending spree of snacks and school activities.
It’s the most important job I’ve ever done. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Be the difference. Create the future.
I’m a proud father.
But having kids doing extra curricular activities is expensive.
I understand why so many Americans DON’T invest in their children.
I’m a husband first and foremost. Then, a father. And after that, a multitude of titles. But those two are my favorites, and then two that keep me up at night. And it’s a great burden. One that I’ll never let someone else take from me.
To leave them something better.
I grew up poor. It taught me a few things. The value of a dollar. The value of time. It wasn’t until I was older I realized those lessons. I don’t want others to make my mistakes. To have that long term vision. To have that drive.
Community designs the future. Drive it.
You don’t build a community by trusting that local politicians will do it. You have to go out and do it. Build the future you want with like-minded people.
1616 days (at the most) until I retire. Hang up the uniform for good. And then the real work begins. I know a job will be there, but a passion exists now that didn’t last year. A calling. And now I have to make it happen.
Remember: Everything starts with your community.
Odd that you quote me, and then refuse to engage with me questioning why. I’m a pretty reasonable guy, and want to hear your side of the idea.
