Her fight for freedom began with her love for her husband and grew into a movement that reached so many more. When Berta Soler’s husband was imprisoned in Cuba, she joined other prisoners’ families to demand their release. That fight helped shape the Ladies in White, a peaceful movement calling for the freedom of political prisoners and respect for human rights. Today, Soler continues to lead the movement despite government repression, proving that one person’s fight for a loved one can become a fight for the freedom of many. 🇨🇺

The dictatorship in Venezuela did not end with the capture of Nicholas Maduro. Maria Corina Machado’s re-entry into Venezuela is a step towards democracy.

“Hot Girls for Zohran” are no match for the Miami girls. We must unleash the power of 1,000 Cuban and Venezuelan baddies to stop the spread of socialism in America.

What does life under authoritarianism really look like? Our dissident speaker @GraceJo8 recently visited @SusquehannaU to share her story with students and talk to them about the political and economic realities of life under the North Korean regime. In a time when we’re celebrating 250 years of American independence, conversations like this are especially important. Freedom isn’t abstract. It’s the difference between the life Grace lived and the one she risked everything to reach. #AM250 🇺🇸

Thank you @ArtesiaBulldogs for inviting us to New Mexico to share our Dissident Project speakers’ stories. During the visit, @gracejo8 from North Korea and @DanielEChangC from Venezuela told high school students what it was like to flee authoritarian regimes in their home countries in search of a better life. Firsthand experiences like theirs are so important for young people to hear so they can understand why we must continue to protect our freedom here in America. 🇺🇸

He risked everything to speak out against injustice. Chen Guangcheng, a blind, self-taught legal advocate known as the “Barefoot Lawyer,” exposed human rights abuses in China, endured imprisonment and house arrest, and made a daring escape to freedom. His story reminds us that the fight for freedom belongs to everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. 🇺🇸

A husband who’s equal parts hardworking and loving. Mom at home raising her babies. Outside every day. A safe neighborhood and neighbors who are friends. Communion on Sundays. The freedom to speak my mind on social media and anywhere else. As an immigrant, you cannot convince me this isn’t the American Dream.
