43 AND STILL PUTTING IN THE WORK Russell Tovey's fitness journey didn't begin overnight. In a 2020 interview with British GQ, he explained that he started taking regular gym training seriously because he wanted to feel healthier, more confident and comfortable in his body.  There's also a career connection: shortly before turning 43 in November 2024, he landed a leading role in the Doctor Who spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea. He celebrated his birthday while filming, saying he'd spent many birthdays working since he was 17 and considered it a privilege.
