On June 1st, the University of Waterloo's Board of Governors unanimously voted in favour of a new carbon-neutral investment strategy. It is divestment by any other name, but its also more than that. Can be seen as the end of a years long campaign, & the beginning of something new
We support #BeyondDivestmentUW because a real divestment plan can show @DalhousieU and @DalPres that false solutions like #ESG don’t cut it in a climate emergency!
Exhibit A: Dal is still investing in @exxonmobil and 🇺🇸 private prisons.
Even after all these years of Dal’s unethical investments it still feels f#*%^d up to write that Dal invests in private prisons.

We spent years switching between arguments for divestment emphasizing the environment, social, and economic side.
