Hm, I know things take time but I don't know how to feel about waiting 1-2 years for content I would have at that point then played, over 10 years ago but ay, hopefully we get D3 within the next 20 years.
By all means I'll wait, and I'm glad Bungie are making the commitment. I just hope they can survive that long and be sustainable with Marathon and anyone spending in Destiny 2 still. I know Sony has a reputation of killing companies and planned games before they get a chance to release
I feel like today will be a very happy day for Destiny fans. We have upcoming news regarding the D2 Unvaulting, and for some reason I feel more excited/interested to hear about it than I've been since the Witch Queen era with 3.0 Subclass articles.
What I'd love to hear from Bungie;
- When will the unvaulted content release?
- Will the unvaulted content roll out seperately or all at once?
- Will the unvaulting of content be updated for the new sandbox and tiered loot etc?
- How will it effect the current state of Destiny 2 and the current new light onboarding system we already have? Removing the new light quest? Let them experience the story and unlock progress the classic way like in D1 in order?
More importantly, what's after that?
How would you guys prefer unvaulted content to release? All at once and updated with new tiered loot etc, all at once without tiered loot, or roll out weekly/monthly?
If we got a Destiny 1 Remaster I would want it to be FREE for all D1 owners (like what Witcher 3 did) and then release a new paid expansion on top - that could be set between the events of Rise of Iron and Red War or a complete standalone story diving deeper with a single character

🚨BREAKING: Marathon player count peaks at 5,701 24-hour concurrent following it's latest update release before shooting right back down to all time lows, a -61.5% drop from it's previous update peak on July 21, and an 86%~ drop since it's Season 2 launch peak as it's concurrent player count trend continues to make lower lows and lower highs on its decline.
Marathon players, how are you finding the new update and nightfall refresh?
Simple really.
Forsaken - We're SOO BACK
Shadowkeep - Bros..
Beyond Light - It's SOO OVER
Witch Queen - We're Back!
Lightfall - It's SOO OVER (real)
The Final Shape - We're SOO BACK (real)
Edge of Fate - Bros...
Renegades - Bros...
Honestly though. Beyond Light's content vaulting had the biggest impact imo especially after Shadowkeep went free to play with all content

Former Halo Creative Director tells Activision they should hire laid off Bungie, Halo devs for the new Halo team
"Hire Bungie, Halo Studios and other laid off folk who are bursting with talent and ideas that got nerfed or shut down over the years.”
I'd like this, but make future exotics have unique quests again, you can have exotics from engrans, but make then rare and make Xur have a chance to offer it. Nothing ever hits as hard as that dopamine hit you get from seeing Xur sell the exotic you've bren chasing for ages, or seeing an exotic engram drop it. With recent times, having 20 odd exotic engrams thrown at you every season just makes them feel worthless.
Instead allow exotic engrams that would have been duplicate drops to allow you to reroll or focus armor, but make initial new exotic random drops feel like they matter again. It is a looter shooter after all.
Hear me out.
The exotic kiosk at the tower should change. Instead of buying the exotic you want add them all to the activity loot pool including raid encounters.
This would make the game like Destiny 1 and more exciting.
Quest exotics unaffected

Bungie's end really did begin in Lightfall didn't it? Well hopefully the end has ended and a new era begins. :O
If you could unvault ONE season in Destiny 2, what would it be? I'll go first - Season of the Seraph. Damn the final cutscene was just pure god tier 😭
It's a real shame that Bungie structured the game around temp Seasons when a lot of Seasonal content was actually really good despite it being a repeitive model that felt exhausting a lot.
One of the best scenes in D2 imo, just my take -

🚨BREAKING: Destiny 2 player counts rise rapidly after news of a hopeful future for the Destiny franchise and a fully complete experience coming soon!
I wonder if one day we will make new all time peaks?
I started a trend of people making good quality director maps, on a serious note, this one is really nice. My AI slop version was a terrible joke that was suppose to give the point of view of someone coming into the game for the first time and seeing a ton of stuff on screen, even things like "Renegades" that wasn't suppose to be there. It was made to be messy and exaggerate the idea lol. But its good to see some serious ones that want to actually create a proper map of what it could look like after unvaulting.
I apologise if people were deeply upset with my terrible one.
It's honestly incredible how much hate you get on X vs other platforms lol
I literally made a quick AI slop image as a POV joke to exaggerate what the Director could look like if everything was unvaulted. It was supposed to be messy and ridiculous 😂
I didn't expect many people to see it, yet somehow it's turned into a debate about my creativity and the ethics of AI lmao, I'm not defending my AI slop crappy low effort post but I think people are getting a bit too mad over something that was just a POV joke with the image made by AI.
I have a VERY strong feeling that Destiny 2 will have all it's unvaulted content released on Tuesday 7th September, 2027 (exactly 10 years and 1 day since it launched), and that my friends will mark the beginning of a new era.
It's not really about that. It's the fact that people who weren't interested in Marathon and had dedicated 1000s of hours into Destiny felt like they were abandoned. Destiny players SUPPORTED Bungie and they ABANDONED us for a game that was never originally designed to be an extraction shooter to begin with. Trend Chasing, Greed, Art Theft, Mass-Monetization - the scummy tactics, the dumb starter pack decision, dungeon keys, event passes, liturally you name it. Bungie in the later days liturally milking their own playerbase year by year whilst the players kept supporting them just to eventually be abandoned because they wanted a game to chase a new but BIGGER market, and failed, so now they have to reverse course, fix damaged reputation and rebuild trust because they NEED us back.
