This.
It is not "conservative" to reflexively and uncritically defend state use of lethal force against a citizen. There's a word for that reflex; conservative is not that word.

Uh, no. No Stevens supporters owe anyone an apology. No one - not even her staff - knew what she was doing today. Also, I have yet to see anyone defend her. Leaders don't try to stoke even more division two days before the election.
If you supported Haley Stevens now is your time to speak out, denounce her as the Republican she is and apologize for supporting a traitor.

Must chap @WajahatAli’s behind.
Kamala is fighting up until the very last minute for Abdul

Haley Stevens was not the candidate in the general, Abdul El-Sayed was. I agree that endorsing a Republican is insane for a sitting Democratic Congresswoman. But it needs to be said without reservation and explicitly: Abdul El-Sayed is a horrific candidate. He has completely failed to step up into the leadership role for Michigan Democrats he secured by winning the primary. His behavior has been just as bad as hers by virtue of the immense stakes of this election, and how completely he has failed to act accordingly. His behavior shows zero regards for the electoral hell of facing another four years of a Republican-controlled Senate with Trump on power. It is clear that there is nobody in his campaign who thought to pick up the phone and reach out to Stevens to resolve their issues out of the public eye. Despite the full throated support of people as high profile as Obama, El-Sayed continued to act as if he didn't have an able and willing staff that should be fully capable of doing the hard political work of consensus making. If he cannot build bridges with someone who endorsed him without reservation, who agreed with him on nearly all substantive issues, and pissed her off so badly she endorsed a Republican, that speaks to his leadership capacities and talent for politics, or complete lack thereof. It has been ten years of this insurgent nonsense. Candidates like Abdul El-Sayed need to grow the fuck up and act like they're a member of the Democratic party. Because they obviously are.
This is wrong. We should NEVER support Republicans. At most, we abstain. Fuck Mike Rogers. He’s just as much of a bigot as El Sayed. That said, the way y’all have been treating her, this was inevitable. Y’all called her a “genocidal cunt” who was “bought by AIPAC, “owned by Israel,” and that she “needed to leave to the Republican Party.” Well, here you go. You can’t be mad now. People will only take so much abuse before they tell you to go fuck yourselves, especially when you dismiss all their concerns.

I totally understand the DNC revoking your access to voter rolls and other party insider tools. I've seen a lot of ratfucking from DSA candidates, and I wish the party was harsher towards them. But none of them endorsed a MAGA Republican. You really crossed a line here.

This Haley Stevens thing reminds me that gas in Michigan is $4.57 and diesel is $6.68 because the President started a war with Iran that Mike Rogers has been wanting for his entire professional life.

This.
I can be a Jew and abhor Islamophobia. I can support Israel's right to exist and reject Netanyahu's war crimes. I can condemn Hamas for October 7 and feel for Palestinian victims of the war. I can call out Abdul El-Sayed's relationship with Hasan Piker and still plainly see he's a better choice for our country than another Trump yes man enabler getting us into unjust wars and destroying our Democracy.

Seriously, stop treating Jews like political footballs. Nothing about this weekend will make Jews safer — but it will almost certainly lead to us being blamed (no matter the outcome of the Senate race).
The goal of both antisemitism and Islamophobia is to sow distrust and division and tear communities apart — and the past 24 hours in Michigan are a textbook example. Just depressing all around.

This is a must-read, from a man who defected from the Communist bloc to the USA 40 years ago. "What worries me the most is not Trump himself or those who do his bidding, but rather the willingness of so many ordinary citizens to look away." theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

If someone is seriously claiming that AES has seen more racist attacks against him than Obama, it’s time to clock out and take a break, you have completely lost the plot.
Racism is real, your BS weaponization of "racism" to shield yourself from legitimate criticism is isn't. For someone who makes a living exposing bad faith arguments, you seem awfully comfortable making them.

If, God forbid, Abdul loses, this will be a watershed moment in Democratic politics. The fire will rise. It's over. People will be radicalized against corporate, pro-Israel Dems. There will be a reckoning. If, when, he wins, it will be a watershed moment. And that reckoning will still come.

The N.C. GOP delegation has been fretting.
North Carolina End of Early In-Person Voting 🔴 2024: R+41,457 🔵 2026: D+343,548 Republicans did not win a single day of early voting. Even when high-propensity voters were red, those gains were overwhelmed by exceptionally blue turnout among less frequent voters.

Not surprising. Posobiec and @mehdirhasan cut from the same cloth.
Jack Posobiec is expected to be removed from Turning Point USA following reports that he may be lobbying for Qatar, who financially supports the Muslim Brotherhood. Team Trump unfollowed Posobiec on social media yesterday. The disgraced former Navy officer previously had his security clearance revoked for allegedly sharing classified information on Twitter before his separation from the Navy Reserve.

How the hell did this Administration allow a 28-year-old DOGE operative with zero government experience to take over USAID, fire thousands of federal employees, and shut down lifesaving aid programs around the world?   Not to mention that HR had zero record of him working there, he never completed his background paperwork to legally start working for the agency, and he didn’t even have an ID badge, because, officially, he didn’t exist as an employee.   And yet, all on his own, this man was given the go ahead to lock staff out of their own systems and use your taxpayer dollars to gut lifesaving programs with zero transparency.   The Trump Administration owes the American people and Congress answers. Who signed off on this? Why on earth was he given this kind of power?   This wasn’t an accident. Someone handed this man unchecked power, someone knew he wasn’t legally authorized to use it, and someone decided that there was nothing wrong with that.   Well, everything is wrong with that. Congress needs answers about this, and that is NOT optional. wired.com/story/a-28-year-ol…

Watching people burn bridges and destroy themselves over El-Sayed has been wild. If you choose to support him because you simply don’t want Rogers to win I think that’s perfectly reasonable, but gaslighting and accusing people of racism after the shit he has said and supported is bonkers.

I was a Republican city councilman. I flipped burgers at 14 to pay my way to the RNC. I named my dog Mitt. To my Republican family: you don't have to become a Democrat to vote against Ken Paxton.
